Volgens woningcorporatie Ymere komen er twintig time-outwoningen voor mensen die verward of onbegrepen gedrag vertonen. Ymere zegt tegen AT5 dat de gemeente hiervoor al een bestaande locatie heeft aangewezen. Eind 2024 deed Ymere-directeur Erik Gerritsen al een dringende oproep voor een dergelijke voorziening. Amsterdam kampt al langer met de vraag hoe om te gaan met mensen met onbegrepen gedrag die voor overlast zorgen in hun buurt. De groep mensen die zorg en ondersteuning nodig heeft, neemt alsmaar toe, terwijl passende plekken schaars zijn. Ymere pleit al lange tijd voor de komst van time-outwoningen. "We moeten sneller ingrijpen voordat het echt uit de hand loopt", zei Ymere-directeur Erik Gerritsen eind 2024. De woningbouwcorporatie is dan ook blij dat er nu beweging in de plannen zit. ''We zijn blij dat er schot in de zaak zit en dat er eindelijk een locatie komt waar goede zorg- en hulpverlening is'', zegt een woordvoerder tegen AT5. Volgens Ymere zijn de woningen ''niet alleen voor deze mensen hard nodig, maar ook voor de buren die veel overlast ervaren.'' Een time-outwoning is volgens Ymere bedoeld als overbrugging voor mensen die door verward of onbegrepen gedrag tijdelijk niet zelfstandig kunnen wonen. Zij kunnen er enkele maanden tot maximaal een jaar terecht, ''tot het leven weer op de rit is of iemand bijvoorbeeld is afgekickt.'' Keer op keer dezelfde melding De komst van de woningen komt op een moment dat de druk op hulpverleners en omwonenden hoog is. AT5 sprak vorig jaar met politieagenten, ambulancepersoneel, hulpverleners en buurtbewoners die keer op keer met dezelfde situaties te maken krijgen. Politieagenten vertelden dat ze soms meerdere keren per week bij dezelfde persoon komen. ''Dat veroorzaakt echt buikpijn bij ons'', zei een politiemedewerker destijds. Ook ambulancepersoneel herkent de frustratie. ''Ben je hier nou weer?'', krijgen hulpverleners soms van buren te horen als ze voor de zoveelste keer bij dezelfde woning uitstappen. Ook buurtbewoners zeggen veel overlast te ervaren en voelen zich, ondanks herhaalde meldingen bij de hulpdiensten, niet altijd geholpen. Met de time-outwoningen hopen Ymere, de gemeente en zorgverleners daar een oplossing voor te bieden. Mensen kunnen tijdelijk uit hun eigen woonsituatie worden gehaald en op een plek met intensieve begeleiding tot rust komen. Daarna kunnen ze, als dat weer mogelijk is, terug naar hun eigen woning of doorstromen naar een passende woon- of zorgplek. Waar de twintig woningen precies komen, wordt niet bekendgemaakt. De locatie is volgens Ymere al door de gemeente aangewezen. Loui Ridi, a Palestinian American, flew to the occupied West Bank Monday to help his relatives defend their home in the village of Qusra from Israeli settlers who have surrounded it for more than a week. Settlers have surrounded several Palestinian houses in the village and blocked the people inside from leaving.

Amateurspeurder Anton van Straten heeft met een paar uurtjes zoeken mogelijk de identiteit achterhaald van 'Lucky', de onbekende man die al jaren in een Amsterdams verzorgingshuis verblijft. De Canadese politie heeft inmiddels contact gezocht met het Amsterdamse coldcaseteam. Vanaf zijn bank met de telefoon in zijn hand zag Anton van Straten (58) uit Tiel het nieuws over de zoektocht naar de identiteit van Lucky. Hij kwam meteen in actie. "Ik zoek al mijn hele leven heel graag dingen uit. Ik wil altijd alles weten. Ik ontdek dingen die anderen niet vinden." De man, die de bijnaam 'Lucky' heeft, zakte in 2023 in elkaar op straat. Door een infarct kon hij niet meer communiceren, sindsdien woont hij in een verpleeghuis in Amsterdam. In een poging om achter zijn identiteit te komen, deelde de politie deze week een video van de man. Daarop begon Anton meteen met het verzamelen van informatie over 'Lucky'. "Zo werd hij naast Lucky ook 'Chris de Canadees' genoemd door mensen die hem weleens zagen", vertelt hij. Daarnaast was de man, voor hij getroffen werd door een infarct, aangesloten bij een Boeddhistische gemeenschap in Amsterdam. Daar had hij de naam Lucky gekregen. Ook spraken getuigen tegen de Amsterdamse speurders van het coldcaseteam over 'een Canadees of Amerikaans-Engels' accent. En natuurlijk de beelden. "Er zijn ook verschillende foto's van hem verspreid." "Ik zie zoveel gelijkenissen, zowel qua uiterlijk als levensstijl" Anton uit Tiel over zoektocht naar identiteit van Lucky Anton besloot te gaan zoeken naar allerlei vermissingssites in Amerika en Canada. "Artificial intelligence was daar een handig hulpmiddel bij. Zo kreeg ik een overzicht van alle websites die er zijn." Hij moest ook echt zelf wel aan de slag: AI was niet voor alles inzetbaar. Handmatig ging hij alle sites af om de personen te bekijken. Hij kwam terecht op de website van de politie in Vancouver en daar, alle gezichten bekijkend, dacht hij 'bingo'. Mail van Canadese politie Hij leest een oproep om uit te kijken naar 'een witte man' die al meer dan dertig jaar vermist is. Zijn familie had voor het laatst contact met hem in 1993, hij was toen 34 jaar. "Ik zag zoveel gelijkenissen. Zowel qua uiterlijk, maar ook zijn omschreven levensstijl. Deze vermiste man had mentale problemen en begaf zich regelmatig in de natuur. In dat laatste zag ik een link met het boeddhisme." Anton stuurde een tip naar de politie in Amsterdam én een mail naar de Canadese politie met al zijn bevindingen. Crews were filmed bulldozing pristine desert wilderness earlier this month, sparking rare bipartisan pushback. The construction is part of a larger plan for the Big Bend region to build hundreds of miles of walls, vehicle barriers and other border infrastructure. The Department of Homeland Security waived requirements that federal contractors comply with a broad slate of environmental laws, including the Endangered Species Act, to proceed with construction in the national park. "I think the administration made such a massive miscalculation when they sicced their bulldozers on this great American national park," says Laiken Jordahl, a national public lands advocate with the Center for Biological Diversity. Laiken says the movement to protect Big Bend cuts across partisan and ideological lines and is "a force to be reckoned with." While ‘Vande Guru Paramparaam’ and the other series are the fruits of organised effort, disciplined practice, and structured preparation, this series is different. Here, it is a spontaneous outburst—something I joyfully receive from the Universal Mother at the very moment of singing. Record it 25 times, and each of those 25 would be entirely different. There are no boundaries here—only pure ecstasy! In this flow, I may include Swara singing, brief Raga Alapanas, and perhaps even a spontaneous teaching moment that may arise on its own.
