De situatie zou zijn geëscaleerd omdat de man weigerde het busje te verplaatsen. Dat gebeurde vanmiddag rond 15.30 uur. Op beelden van een omstander is te zien dat de agent en de pakketbezorger in discussie zijn. Op het moment dat de agent op de pakketbezorger afstapt, wordt de pakketbezorger getaserd. Hij valt daarna achterover op de grond. Op de beelden is ook te zien dat veel omstanders verontwaardigd zijn over de actie. Een woordvoerder van de politie zegt dat de man door de agent werd aangesproken omdat hij zijn busje had stilgezet op een plek waar dat niet mocht. De agent zou de man vervolgens hebben gevraagd het busje ergens anders neer te zetten, zodat het verkeer erlangs kon. De man zou dat hebben geweigerd. Een omstander zegt dat de man vroeg waarom hij werd aangehouden, maar daar geen antwoord op kreeg. Volgens de politie wilde de agent de man aanhouden en gebruikte hij zijn stroomstootwapen omdat de situatie zou zijn geëscaleerd.
