Tiny springs are the hardest to find once they leap from the bench. This is not just because of their size, but also their weight. They weigh so little that they can get caught on clothing, hair, even skin and you can't feel it. I try to always stabilize the spring in some way if possible to reduce the chances of a jumper. Kimchi Fried Rice: Serves: 2 Prep time: 5 mins Cook time: 7 mins Ingredients 1 tbsp peanut oil 1 Kranksy sausage, sliced 1 cup kimchi, chopped, juice reserved 3 garlic cloves, finely grated 2 cups cooked Jasmine rice 25g butter 2 tsp Korean soy sauce 3 spring onions, thinly sliced, green and white parts separated 2 eggs Method Heat oil in a wok over high heat. Add sausage and cook for 1 minute, until browned. Add kimchi, toss for 1 minute, then add garlic and spring onion whites, toss for 30 seconds. Stir in rice, cook, stirring for 1 minute. Add butter, toss until it melts. then stir in ⅓ cup (80ml) of reserved kimchi juice and soy sauce, toss well. Stir through spring onion greens, then remove from heat. Fry eggs in an oiled frying pan over medium heat, until whites are just set. Serve rice in bowls topped with fried egg and extra spring onions to garnish.

Tesla bouwde met zijn Autopilot-systeem voortvarend aan die toekomst en kreeg wereldwijd het imago van een groen, innovatief en technologisch gedreven merk. Maar al snel verschenen er barstjes in dat beeld. In de Verenigde Staten raakten (verschillende) Tesla’s honderden keren betrokken bij ernstige, soms dodelijke, ongelukken. Ook in Europa meldden Tesla-bestuurders gevaarlijke situaties waarbij de Autopilot een rol speelde. Zembla onderzoekt: waarom wordt Tesla’s Autopilot in verband gebracht met ongelukken? En welke rol speelde de Nederlandse Dienst Wegverkeer (RDW) bij de toelating van dit systeem in Europa? In deze Zembla-video zie je een oud-medewerker van Tesla, Lukasz Krupski. Hij werkte bij de grootste Tesla-vestiging van Noorwegen als onderhoudsmonteur. Hij maakte zich zorgen over de veiligheid van Tesla’s; niet alleen voor de bestuurders van de elektrische auto’s, maar ook voor de andere weggebruikers. Hij mailde erover met Elon Musk, maar krijgt een afwijzende reactie. Lukasz Krupski maakt zijn zorgen over de veiligheid van Tesla’s ook kenbaar bij de Amerikaanse autoriteiten. Ook zij reageren niet zoals hij hoopt. Krupski besluit daarom 23.000 interne documenten van Tesla te lekken aan de Duitse krant Handelsblatt. De onderzoeksjournalisten stellen dat er een groot verschil is tussen wat Elon Musk zegt dat zijn Tesla’s kunnen en waar de auto's werkelijk toe in staat zijn. Een belangrijk deel van de 23.000 stukken is ook in bezit van Zembla. Uit de documenten blijkt dat het bedrijf van Elon Musk duizenden meldingen kreeg van ongelukken en andere gevaarlijke situaties met Autopilot. Sommige auto’s versnellen plotseling of doen juist het tegenovergestelde: ze remmen wanneer het niet nodig is. Dit heet phantom braking en kan gevaarlijke situaties opleveren. Op beelden die zijn vrijgegeven door de Amerikaanse autoriteiten zie je een onverwachts remmende Tesla die een kettingbotsing veroorzaakt in een tunnel. Ook uit ons eigen onderzoek blijkt dat minstens tientallen Nederlandse Tesla-bezitters last hebben van phantom braking. Zembla spreekt met meer deskundigen over de problemen met Autopilot. Phil Koopman van Carnegie Mellon University stelt dat de data over het aantal ongelukken die Tesla openbaar maakt een vertekend beeld geven. Alleen de cijfers van het verkeer op snelwegen zijn meegenomen. Simeon Calvert van de TU Delft vertelt dat het Autopilot-systeem een bètaversie is. Dat betekent dat het nog getest wordt. Volgens hem zijn er andere autofabrikanten die een geavanceerder zelfrijdend systeem hebben ontwikkeld, maar terughoudend zijn dit uit te brengen op de markt. Hoe kan het dat Tesla’s Autopilot, ondanks de risico’s, is toegelaten tot de Europese markt? Daarbij speelt de Nederlandse Dienst Wegverkeer (RDW) een rol. Tesla en de RDW vonden samen een manier om de regelgeving op creatieve wijze te omzeilen. Dat stelt de Zweedse transportautoriteit.
