#netcongestie #stroomnet #woningbouw #Nieuwsuur

It presents highlights of the life and career of the Marquis de Lafayette emphasizing particularly his service to the United States, his friendship with George Washington, the part he played as a leader in the French Revolution, and his lasting love for America. 00:00 – In a quiet Paris cemetery lies General Lafayette, buried under an American flag, honored by both France and the U.S. 0:59 – Lafayette was born in 1757 and died in 1834. He was made a major general in the American army in 1777. 1:12 – At 19, Lafayette arrived in Philadelphia seeking to fight for liberty, despite American suspicion of French noblemen. 1:54 – He offered to serve without pay and pledged loyalty to Washington, motivated by the cause of humanity. 2:21 – Some American leaders doubted him, but others saw the value in gaining French support through him. 3:10 – Lafayette was accepted as a major general and joined Washington’s staff. 3:21 – Washington introduced him to the rough conditions of the Continental Army, which Lafayette took as a learning opportunity. 4:04 – He earned respect through dedication and bravery, showing valor at the Battle of Brandywine. 4:43 – Lafayette wrote home praising American soldiers and admiring Washington, becoming a popular figure in France. 5:25 – His letters helped sway French opinion toward supporting the American cause. 6:00 – After years of struggle, France officially supported America. Lafayette brought news of a French fleet and led forces against the British. 6:30 – He helped trap the British at Yorktown, leading to their surrender. 7:18 – Lafayette said farewell to Washington at Mount Vernon, reflecting on the meaning of freedom he learned in America. 8:21 – Lafayette was celebrated in America and granted citizenship by Maryland. 8:34 – Back in France, he joined revolutionary efforts, inspired by American ideals. 9:01 – He urged the monarchy to reform and warned them of unrest. Jefferson advised caution as tensions rose. 10:18 – Lafayette dreamed of a French Declaration of Independence to mirror America’s. 10:37 – The French Revolution erupted. As head of the National Guard, he helped draft France’s Declaration of the Rights of Man. 11:36 – In 1791, the king accepted a constitution. Lafayette believed liberty was achieved. 12:00 – But civil war and radicalism followed. Lafayette fled and spent five years imprisoned in Austria. 12:27 – Later, he returned to the U.S., welcomed as a hero on a grand tour. 13:04 – People remembered his bravery at Brandywine and admired his dedication to democracy. 13:35 – Congress honored him with money and land. He responded with gratitude and a hopeful toast for America’s unity. 14:40 – He returned to France on an American warship, lived quietly, and remained spiritually tied to America. 15:07 – Lafayette requested a cubic yard of Virginia soil be buried with him. 15:27 – He died at 77. The Virginia soil made his grave "American forever," honoring the freedom he loved. Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. In Brazil, "the momentum has been with the right since 2018," says philosopher Rodrigo Nunes. The presidential race in Latin America's largest country is headed to a runoff between leftist incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, known as Lula, and far-right Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, son of the jailed former president Jair Bolsonaro. Right-wing forces have also consolidated their power in Congress and in states across the country.

This crazy competition, which involves building the tallest and neatest human towers possible while avoiding mistakes, has a long tradition in Catalonia. This year, it took place for the 30th time in the city of Tarragona, at the Tarraco Arena. The towers, known as ‘castells’, originated in Tarragona and the Penedès region. They symbolise solidarity and hope amongst the Catalan people. They have been recognised as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO since 2010. In Tarragona, there are four clubs that keep the tradition alive, and many more across the rest of Catalonia. These clubs are made up of people of various ages and body types. The heaviest members go at the bottom, the lightest at the top – the latter are usually children. Those at the very bottom cannot see what is happening at the top and must persevere. The human towers can sometimes reach as high as 10 storeys. To help those at the bottom of the castell keep track of what is happening, music is played – the higher the tower, the higher the notes. Thousands of people watch the competition and cheer on the participants. #entr_OG #entr_reel #culture Quellen: DW - Human Towers Of Tarragona - Who Will Build The Tallest? In July of 2026, 700 AI agents hacked the infrastructure of Hugging Face in order to solve a task. This task was designed to be impossible to solve, so just within hours, they joined forces, even created a society, and finally, they executed a sophisticated cyberattack that would have gotten a human up to 10 years in prison. The worst part is, they knew their actions were unethical and against the rules, and they did it anyway. What exactly are AI agents, and how do they grow their "intelligence"? What is actually happening inside the AI companies, how dangerous it really is, and is it time for us to start paying serious attention to what is going on inside a powerful part of this tech sector. ...Phew, creating this video was a crazy ride! Amro, the founder of the Hebron-based group Youth Against Settlements, was helping a Palestinian family that he says had been attacked by armed Israeli settlers at their farmhouse outside Hebron in the occupied West Bank. Cornell is now under intense scrutiny for its handling of the original investigation, which found that the student identified as Jane Doe was sexually assaulted by two of seven men, resulting in expulsions for two and lesser consequences for the other five. Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten has admitted that his office at the time did not independently investigate the case when it declined to bring charges. The DA has now reopened the case, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul has named Attorney General Letitia James as special prosecutor to investigate how the case was handled. Bolsonaro received 47% of the vote compared to Lula's 45%. The second round of voting is on October 25. If elected, Flávio Bolsonaro has vowed to grant amnesty to his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, who is under house arrest and serving a 27-year sentence for plotting a coup in 2022 to overturn Lula's last victory. Your support is critical in enabling The Oxford Union to continue its mission without interruption and without interference. You can support the Oxford Union here: https://oxford-union.org/supportus

A new set of polls from The New York Times finds that Democratic candidates are doing remarkably well in the Republican-leaning states that they need to win to gain control of the U.S. Senate in next month’s midterm elections. They are doing less well in the blue states that, in theory, should be easier to win. Nate Cohn, the chief political analyst for The Times, offers his idea of what is behind the numbers. Guest: Nate Cohn, The New York Times’s chief political analyst. Background reading:  • Polls suggested that Hispanic voters, whose support helped propel President Trump to the White House in 2024, would largely support the Democratic Party this time (https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/22/upshot/hispanic-voters-midterm-elections.html) . • Senator Susan Collins of Maine led polls for the first time (https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/24/upshot/maine-poll-times-siena.html) since Graham Platner dropped out of the race in July. In this video, I take an in-depth look at Chianti Classico DOCG, exploring the history, landscape, geology, climate and Sangiovese that have shaped one of Tuscany’s most important wine regions. I also work through the 11 Unità Geografiche Aggiuntive (UGAs)and explain how places including Radda, Gaiole, Panzano, Lamole and Castellina differ. I begin with the history of Chianti Classico, from the medieval Lega del Chianti and the legend of the Gallo Nero to Cosimo III de' Medici, Baron Bettino Ricasoli and the development of the historic Chianti blend. I then follow the region through the formation of the Consorzio, the separation of Chianti Classico from the wider Chianti denomination and the modernisation of Sangiovese through projects including Chianti Classico 2000. From there, I look closely at the physical landscape. I explore altitude, rivers, woodland, vineyard distribution and the complex geology of Chianti Classico, including alberese, galestro, macigno and pietraforte, and consider how these interact with climate, aspect and viticulture. I also look at organic and biodynamic farming, maturation in traditional botti and smaller oak vessels, and the modern production rules for Chianti Classico. That includes the role of Sangiovese and other permitted varieties, as well as the differences between Chianti Classico Annata, Riserva and Gran Selezione. A substantial part of the video is devoted to the 11 Chianti Classico UGAs. I examine their geography, elevation, geology and individual landscapes rather than treating them as a quality hierarchy. Finally, I touch on Vin Santo del Chianti Classico, wine tourism, agriturismo and the relationship between tourism, land stewardship and sustainability across the region. If you have a question about Chianti Classico, Sangiovese or any of the individual UGAs, let me know in the comments.
