When construction halted in Winterbourne Gunner, Wiltshire, archaeologists discovered a 1,400-year-old Anglo-Saxon cemetery lying directly beneath a modern housing site. As excavations revealed Pagan burials filled with gilded brooches, amber beads, and weapons, the team uncovered an even deeper mystery: the Saxons had deliberately built their cemetery around a 3,500-year-old Bronze Age sacred site. Explore how ancient invaders settled in post-Roman Britain and why this location remained sacred across millennia. Welcome to Chronicle; your home for all things medieval history! One of the world's largest buildings, the VAB is approximately 52 stories high and contains 3,664,340 cubic meters (129,482,000 cubic feet) of interior space. At the time his official designation was the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Czechoslovak Communist Party. It's not exactly clear what year these images were captured, but we believe it is almost certainly 1963 as he is known to have visited Thailand, Burma, Cambodia and North Vietnam in January of that year. The film starts with images of a Buddha statue at a shrine, and a monk walks past camera. At :24, Novotny signs a guest book, followed by images of bare feet and well-heeled shod feet walking on a red carpet. At :42, what appears to be a Mercedes-Benz 300d Landaulet four-door luxury tourer automobile is seen. At :53, the Shwedagon Pagoda, also known as the Golden Mountain Stupa in Yangon, Myanmar / Burma is shown. At 1:04, a snake charmer works magic with a group of snakes. At 1:25, a Czech or Russian officer parades with a snake around his neck. At 1:28, the motorcade for the President is shown on the move. At 1:44, men are seen pulling a wagon in traffic, while a VW Beetle swerves to move past them. At 1:53, an official reception in front of the Rangoon Airport, also known as the old Rangoon International Airport.. President Novotny reviews a group of soldiers. At 2:12. what appear to be Novotny's pilots pose for the camera before snapping to attention as the delegation approaches. At 2:39, a visit to a sheep farm where wool is being harvested. Novotny is shown with a group of men, unfortunately we have no information about who they might be. Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. #Nieuwsuur #Oekraine #oorlog #Kyiv

Christa Pike was sentenced to death in Tennessee for a 1995 murder she committed when she was 18. Now in the hospital in critical condition, she is the first person to ever survive lethal injection in the United States. According to Pike’s lawyers, the botched execution spanned more than two hours. Christa Pike "has just experienced the most agonizing attempt at lethal injection in the country's history," says Sandra Babcock, director of the Cornell Center on the Death Penalty Worldwide. Babcock says Pike should have never been sentenced to death because she was an "immature 18-year-old" with a history of severe childhood and sexual trauma who "was not receiving medication for post-traumatic stress disorder and bipolar disorder at the time of [the murder], which she committed with her abusive boyfriend at the time."

Drop Site News released a major investigation this week into the U.S. bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh children's school in the Iranian city of Minab on February 28, the first day of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. Drop Site spoke to survivors, first responders, parents and witnesses in one of the most in-depth reports on the massacre to date. The bombing killed at least 156 people — 120 of the victims were children, 26 were teachers, and the rest were parents. "This was not a single bombing or collateral damage," says Drop Site's Jeremy Scahill, lead author of the investigation. "There were at least two direct hits on a school packed with children … and a couple of hours after those initial hits, as first responders came, as parents came, the U.S. launches more strikes."

This show was first telecast on September 8, 1959 and ran through June 2, 1960. The series was produced by Kirk Douglas' production company, Brynaprod In this Viking tale, tensions rise after a hunting trip when Leif, son of King Firebeard, confronts Modolf for mistreating his prized horse. Later, Modolf is found dead, and Thrand accuses Leif of murder, demanding blood money. A Viking trial, or "lotting," is held, where witnesses claim Leif threatened and shot Modolf. Though Leif insists he only intended to warn him, he is found guilty and sentenced to pay a fine. Refusing to admit guilt, Leif is banished for three winters. While in hiding, Leif uncovers proof that Modolf was killed not by an arrow but by an axe blow. He presents the evidence before the king and the court, clearing his name. Thrand is revealed as dishonorable and is outlawed. The tale ends with Leif preparing to return to sea, his honor restored. 00:00– Vikings spend winters hunting; a mix of danger and light-heartedness. 1:03 – A dispute over a wager leads to a demand for payment; tensions rise among the group. 1:55 – Thrand is dishonored and left on foot; Leif asserts dominance. 2:24 – Thrand is mocked again; a bewitched horse is discussed. 2:55 – A wolf with a silver coat, seen as an omen, is tracked. 3:50 – Grim believes the wolf is a witch wolf; Leif decides to pursue it. 4:06 – Leif confronts a man for riding his horse without permission. 5:10 – Modolf is found dead, apparently killed by an arrow. 6:03 – Hunters return with news of a deadly encounter with the witch wolf. 6:49 – Thrand arrives to accuse Leif of killing Modolf and demands blood money. 7:38 – A lotting (Viking trial) is ordered by King Firebeard. 8:26 – Judges are selected and instructed to remain impartial. 9:14 – Witnesses testify against Leif, claiming he threatened and shot Modolf. 10:58 – Leif defends himself, claiming he only meant to warn Modolf and beat him. 12:02 – Leif is judged guilty of Modolf’s death but not murder; owes blood money. 13:18 – Leif refuses to pay; Firebeard banishes him for three winters. 14:45 – Leif, now an outlaw, seeks refuge with a woman who vows to protect him. 16:12 – The woman is warned not to harbor Leif but remains defiant. 19:07 – Thrand arrives searching for Leif, offering bribes for information. 21:26 – Leif’s allies argue for his innocence; Firebeard reopens the case. 22:15 – Leif questions witnesses, revealing that Modolf’s real cause of death was an axe wound. 23:31 – Modolf's corpse proves Leif’s innocence; Thrand is declared dishonored and outlawed. 24:52 – Leif prepares to go Viking again, parting with his ally. 25:31 – Narration ends the story with praise for Viking courage and legacy. In Underworld: Belize, the team are on a quest to discover why the Maya Civilisation disappeared around 900 AD. Underground, in the spectacular cave of Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM), they uncover a crystallised skeleton, the remains of human sacrifice from 1,100 years ago. In a land with no surface rivers the Maya relied on its underworld for fresh water, accessed via flooded sinkholes. Joining them is Professor Holley Moyes, whose investigations reveal a great megadrought in Central America between 700-900 AD that caused the Maya to venture further and further underground to make human sacrifices to their gods as they prayed for rains that would never come. A 3D scan of Las Cuevas reveals exactly how they had modified this cave as a pilgrimage site, with seating and a stage - a final act of desperation as their society collapsed. -- Welcome to the official Get.factual youtube channel! 🌍 We are a documentary streaming channel covering history, science, technology, and nature.
