Journey into the profound world of Meister Eckhart, the 13th-century German mystic whose sermons and writings challenged the boundaries of religious thought. In this exploration, we’ll trace Eckhart’s life and spiritual context, unpack his core themes—such as the ground of the soul, detachment, and the birth of the divine within—and discover why his work resonates with seekers and scholars to this day. Join us as we reveal the depth, complexity, and enduring relevance of this visionary thinker, and learn how to apply his timeless insights to our own inner lives. 0:00 – Introduction & Why Meister Eckhart Matters Hosts kick off the deep dive, noting Eckhart’s profound theological and spiritual ideas Overview of the big questions Eckhart addresses: the nature of God, meaning of existence, and spiritual transformation 0:31 – Made in God’s Image: Trinitarian Theology & Human Intellect Discussion of Eckhart’s view that our intellect is made in the image of God The Son’s relationship to the Father as a mirror for how our minds can be “identical” in divine potential The idea that the source (God) and the image (human intellect) interpenetrate one another 1:18 – Detachment & Letting Go: Creating Space for the Divine Eckhart’s emphasis on renouncing ego and personal desires Analogy of an “equal exchange”: the more we empty ourselves of self-interest, the more room for the Divine Not a call to passivity but a change in perspective—acting from inner freedom rather than ego-driven motives 2:08 – Suffering as a Path to Inner Freedom Eckhart’s radical claim: genuine peace can persist even in Misfortune Why a detached heart can find growth and spiritual wisdom in trials Suffering’s role in loosening our attachment to worldly comforts and egoic control 3:07 – The Ground of the Soul: Depth Beyond Time & Space Metaphor of the ocean depths for the “spark” or “ground” within each person A still, eternal core that remains untouched by life’s surface-level chaos Eckhart’s teaching that this ground directly connects us to the Divine Source 4:00 – The Birth of God Within: Tapping into Eternity Now Eckhart’s image of “God giving birth to the Son in our souls” Challenging the linear notion of time—eternity is accessible in the present A mystical vision: not just imitating Christ, but experiencing the same divine birth ourselves 5:05 – Live Without Why: Acting Beyond Egoic Motives Famous Eckhart phrase explained: not rejecting action, but critiquing self-serving intent Modern scholar John Connelly’s analysis of “living without why” as freedom from attachment to outcomes How this perspective transforms our relationship to success, failure, and even suffering 6:30 – Virtue, Detachment & Ethical Living Eckhart’s view that authentic spirituality naturally flowers into compassion, humility, and generosity Virtue as an expression of a soul aligned with Divine Will, rather than rule-following out of fear Emphasis on action flowing from love and surrender, not passive withdrawal from the world 7:40 – Reconciling Mystical Vision & Everyday Life How to hold Eckhart’s radical ideas alongside daily responsibilities and relationships “Living without why” doesn’t mean apathy—it means a shift toward deeper, more conscious engagement Cultivating mindfulness and trust in a greater power working through us 9:00 – Eckhart’s Radical Theology & Universal Access Eckhart’s inclusive stance: the direct experience of God is available to all His challenge to medieval power structures—emphasizing the “divine spark” in every person The link between personal spiritual insight and making the world a more loving place 11:50 – Integration: Spiritual Practice & Ethical Action Practical pointers: inner surrender, present-moment awareness, and letting Divine grace guide transformation Virtues emerge naturally as we align with the “ground of the soul” Recognizing the same divine spark in others fosters compassion and unity in a divided world 14:10 – Conclusion: Eckhart’s Enduring Relevance Hosts reflect on Eckhart’s continued power to unsettle, inspire, and liberate The invitation to see spirituality as a path to freedom, not escape from the world Parting thoughts: keep exploring, questioning, and recognizing the “birth of God” within

It’s fair to say that putting Peter Thiel in a box would be pretty much impossible. He’s a gay, Christian billionaire with a flair for business, and the combination of these traits is seldom seen. His personality and unique path to success gives him an outside perspective on the world; something that Piers Morgan is keen to tap into. Peter has a lot to say on the election of Donald Trump, the rise of Elon Musk and the stagnation of science and technology. In Tonight’s Uncensored, Morgan and Thiel plunge into a sea of topics; from politics and democracy to science and technology. What I think is cool, is what happens when I burn nitromethane. I get a flame that has almost no color. There's a slight hint of yellow, but besides that it almost looks like it's in black and white. In my opinion it kind of looks fake, and I think this is better than anything with color. #shorts

This video explores the history and impact of the gang-nail plate, a simple yet revolutionary invention that transformed residential construction and accelerated suburban growth. Originally devised to combat hurricane damage in places like mid-century Miami, the gang-nail plate allowed builders to quickly and securely connect multiple pieces of lumber at virtually any angle. By enabling the mass production of roof trusses in off-site factories, it led to stronger, cheaper, and more efficient construction. This efficiency opened the door to spacious open floor plans, complex rooflines, cathedral ceilings, and the sprawling McMansion aesthetic, all of which have come to define much of American suburban architecture. Yet, the influence of this unassuming invention isn’t entirely positive. While it helped streamline building processes and cut costs, it also encouraged rapid housing expansion and larger, more resource-intensive homes. The result was an architectural shift that contributed to suburban sprawl, increased energy demands, and homes increasingly treated as commodities rather than unique, handcrafted spaces. These changes reverberated through building codes, real estate markets, and even family life, influencing how we interact with our homes and one another. __Topics Covered__ + Origins of the gang-nail plate in hurricane-prone regions + Evolution of roof construction from traditional rafters to prefabricated trusses + The rise of open floor plans, cathedral ceilings, and suburban “McMansion” design + Impacts on lumber use, building codes, and off-site manufacturing + How these changes shaped suburban sprawl, architectural aesthetics, and housing markets + The unintended consequences on sustainability, home values, and family dynamics __Key Terms for Further Research__ + Gang-nail plate + Roof truss technology + Prefabricated housing components McMansion architecture + Suburban sprawl + Hurricane-resistant construction + Open floor plans and cathedral ceilings + Housing market boom and collapse + Building code evolution __Membership__ Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYAm24PkejQR2xMgJgn7xwg/join __About the Channel__ Architecture with Stewart is a YouTube journey exploring architecture’s deep and enduring stories in all their bewildering glory. This Documentary is a People Profiles Production on the life of Nostradamus. Please subscribe to their channel for more: https://www.youtube.com/@PeopleProfiles. Nostradamus was a 16th-century French physician-turned-prophet renowned for his cryptic quatrains. Born in 1503, Nostradamus gained early fame as a plague doctor before transitioning to writing almanacs and his famed work 'The Prophecies', which contained predictions which have since been interpreted as foretelling events like the rise of Hitler, the World Trade Center attacks, and the nuclear bombings of Japan. However, some skeptics argue whether or not Nostradamus truly foresaw the future or if his words merely lend themselves to subjective readings across generations. Two huge stories are boiling over in the US this week; the capture of the alleged ‘hot’ assassin accused of murdering a UnitedHealthcare CEO, and the acquittal of Daniel Penny, who subdued Jordan Neely on a New York Subway and in doing so, ended his life. Many people are struggling to care about the slain healthcare boss, which in itself offended many others. As for Daniel Penny, some have called him a hero, while others have gone so far as to deem him a full on 'white supremacist'. Google just announced a crazy new quantum computing chip. It can solve a problem in 5 minutes that would take one of the fastest supercomputers 10 septillion years! BUT that problem was a “benchmark” called “RCS”, chosen specifically because it’s extremely hard for a supercomputer - which are still better at basically everything practical. The real reason you should care about quantum computers and this new chip is less about beating supercomputers, and more about doing new things - like really accurate simulations of nature at a quantum level that could be used for drug discovery or battery development or more. And this new chip matters for how we might get there because of how it deals with mistakes. One of the biggest challenges with quantum computers is errors. The information inside of the “qubits” can get messed up by their environment. Typically the more “qubits” of information, the more errors. Google’s chip has 105 qubits, much smaller than the largest quantum processors, but it’s the first to show the number of errors reduce as more qubits are added - which could be a big deal for the future of quantum computers. If you want to know more about the real future of quantum computing, Marques and I made a longer video! For optimistic science and tech stories, subscribe for more of our show Huge If True. #quantum #willow #scitech #science #quantumcomputing

Step into the timeless world of the Upanishads—foundational spiritual texts that shaped the core philosophical and mystical dimensions of Hindu thought. In this in-depth exploration, we’ll trace their historical emergence, uncover the central concepts of Ātman (the individual soul) and Brahman (the universal consciousness), and investigate the dialogues, metaphors, and meditative practices that these scriptures employ to guide seekers toward enlightenment. Drawing from key passages, reputable translations, and centuries of scholarly interpretation, we’ll examine how the Upanishads influenced major philosophical schools, resonated through the works of modern thinkers, and continue to inspire spiritual inquiry today. Whether you’re new to Hindu philosophy or looking to deepen your understanding, this comprehensive journey promises to illuminate the enduring wisdom and transformative power of the Upanishads.

Coconut pavlova, lime cream, mango Ingredients - 7 egg whites - 300g caster sugar - 1 tsp white vinegar - 1/4 tsp vanilla paste - 2 tbsp cornflour (cornstarch) - 100g coconut flakes - 500ml whipping cream - 3 limes, zested and juiced - 3 tbsp icing sugar - 4 ripe mangoes Method 1. Add the egg whites to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment. Whisk on medium-high speed, gradually adding caster sugar. Continue mixing until the sugar is dissolved — test by rubbing the mixture between your fingers. It should feel smooth and not grainy. 2. Add vanilla paste, vinegar, and cornflour to the meringue.Whisk for another 25–30 seconds until fully combined. 3. Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Spoon 8 large portions of the meringue onto the paper, spacing them evenly. Use the back of a spoon to create a well in the center of each. 4. Generously sprinkle coconut flakes over the meringues. Bake in a preheated oven at 110°C for 1 hour 20 minutes, or until set but chewy in the center. 5. Turn off the oven and leave the door slightly ajar. Allow the meringues to cool completely in the oven, preferably overnight. 6. In a bowl, combine the whipping cream, lime zest, and icing sugar. Whip until soft peaks form. 7. Slice mango cheeks lengthwise. Fan out the slices and roll them into flower shapes. Drizzle the flowers with fresh lime juice. 8. Add a small dollop of cream to a plate to anchor the meringue. Place the meringue on top and add a generous spoonful of lime cream. 9. Top with a mango flower and serve. #shorts #cooking #dessert
