Ingredients 3kg (6.6 lb) pork neck, bone in 500g (1.1 lb) bacon bones 1 tbsp salt 1 tbsp pepperberry 1 tbsp wattleseed 1 large Kumara (sweet potato) 3 waxy potatoes (Urenika, dutch cream, new potatoes) 3 carrot 2 brown onions 1/2 white cabbage 1 250g bunch, (0.5 lb) watercress fry bread, to serve Method Bring 5L (1.3 gal) of water to the boil in a large pot. Slice the pork into big chunks, about the size of your hand. To the pot, add the sliced pork neck, bacon bones, salt, pepperberry and wattleseed. Simmer for 1 hour with the lid off. With the skin on, cut the kumara (sweet potato) into quarters lengthwise, then slice crosswise into 4-6 thick pieces depending on the size of the kumara. Peel and slice the onion into quarters, then slice the carrot and potato into a similar size. Remove the core, then slice the cabbage into 6 wedge-shaped pieces and keep separate. Once the pork has been simmering for 1 hour, add the kumara, onion, carrot and potato and continue simmering for a further 15-20 minutes. Once the vegetables are soft, add the cabbage and watercress to the pot for 3-4 minutes before serving. Serve with freshly made fry bread or sourdough.

The film shows a trip through India, exploring the native culture and religious celebrations. The film was originally released under the title "Wheels Across India". 0:00 Main titles. Bombay Harbor: The film opens with the sun rising over Bombay. Primitive ships, including Arab dhows, fill the harbor. 2:12 Cows and Crafts: Life is sacred, especially the cow. Workshops show patience-intensive labor, producing exquisite ivory carvings and gems. Illiterate workers weave intricate rugs based on a foreman's verbal instructions. 4:03 Maharajas' Palace: The wealth of the palace, built by slave labor, contrasts sharply with India's poverty. The prince is seen playing pachisi. 4:43 Indian Magic: Magicians perform the "bird trick," producing live birds from an empty, covered basket. 6:12 Taj Mahal: The film notes the Taj Mahal as an architectural wonder, built by Shah Jahan for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. 6:59 Poverty and Agriculture: Most of India's 350 million live in poverty, dependent on bullock-drawn irrigation. 7:48 Climbing the Himalayas: The journey leaves the plains, moving to the lower Himalayas. The crew uses Dodge cars until the trails end. 9:05 Trek by Horse: The journey continues on horseback toward 18,000-foot passes, along perilous ledges. 9:43 Tibetan Monastery: The destination is a great Tibetan monastery, reached by a precarious bridge of ropes. 10:21 The monastery is deserted due to a great festival. Local women are seen weaving. 11:19 Prayer Wheels: Entrances are lined with prayer wheels (some water-driven), which send a prayer to heaven with each revolution. 12:23 Mass Dance Ritual: Monks perform a religious mass dance in the courtyard, preceded by the solemn entrance of the High Priest. 15:12 River Return: The crew attempts the dangerous return trip by floating down a mountain river on a raft made of inflated goat skins. 16:03 Holy City of Benares (Varanasi): The crew visits the holy city by boat, observing devout Hindus performing ritualistic ablutions at the ghats (bathing places) along the Ganges. 17:45 Burning Ghats: Death in Benares is considered sacred. Bodies are carried to the burning ghats, dipped in the Ganges, and cremated. A lighted torch is passed over the head to release the spirit. Ashes are swept into the river. 19:55 Juggernaut Festival: The spectacle of the Juggernaut involves huge, heavy chariots being dragged by hordes of devotees. British rule stopped the mass suicides under the wheels. 21:06 Thaipusam Ceremonial: In South India, a strange ceremonial of Thaipusam is shown, where participants drive long metal skewers through their cheeks and tongues without bleeding or showing pain, entering a religious frenzy. 23:21 Ceylon (Sri Lanka): The film contrasts the poverty of India with the "lovely smiling island" of Ceylon, famous for spices. 24:12 Negombo Village: The crew visits Negombo to see fishermen and local women making fine handmade lace. 25:20 Perahera Procession: Devil dancers rehearse for the great Perahera procession in Kandy, where up to 125 gorgeously attired elephants participate. 26:57 The procession features the High Priest carrying the golden casket containing the "Tooth of Buddha" relic on the largest elephant. Piers Morgan speaks exclusively with the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, in a candid and wide-ranging interview. In his toughest statements yet, the Qatari Prime Minister directly brands Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a "war criminal" for the military campaign and explicit genocide in Gaza. He addresses allegations surrounding Qatari influence and funding in the US as "absurd and insulting", while firmly rejecting claims that Qatari aid goes toward Hamas’s military wing, explaining that all funds were coordinated directly with the US, UN, and Israel. Additionally, the Prime Minister reveals he has had no direct contact with Iran’s new Supreme Leader and delivers a clear message to President Donald Trump to cool down his social media rhetoric to help end the Iran war and facilitate peace. 00:00 Introduction 01:15 Qatar and the Iran War 08:55 Why is Qatar being attacked from all sides despite playing peacemaker? 12:38 Has Qatar lost $24 billion in gas sales since the war began? 21:23 Should President Trump ‘cool it’ on social media? 25:10 “We didn't have any direct engagement with the new Supreme Leader” 27:50 Netanyahu’s attack on Qatar at the UNGA and Israel’s view of Qatar 31:24 Qatar’s $4.7 billion in donations between 2001-2021 to American universities 35:55 “Who is meddling in U.S. politics: Israel or Qatar?” 36:56 Qatari PM says he thinks Netanyahu is a war criminal 39:12 Reports the UAE warned Netanyahu about Hamas before October 7 40:25 Qatar’s relationship with Hamas 45:48 Qatari PM’s advice to President Trump on ending the Iran war 46:57 What would an Iran-U.S. peace deal look like?

Pictures on behalf of the motion picture industry. It captures a star-studded, red carpet benefit event in Hollywood for the Will Rogers Memorial Hospital, with Jimmy Cagney introducing the evening. Other notable celebrities such as Humphrey Bogart, John Barrymore, Bette Davis, and Errol Flynn are mentioned among the attendees. Rudy Vallee serves as the master of ceremonies and introduces Dick Powell, who performs the song "Ride Tenderfoot Ride" in a cowboy outfit. Donald Crisp later takes over as host and introduces Paul Muni, who gives a heartfelt tribute to Will Rogers. Muni emphasizes Rogers' generosity and the hospital's mission to support sick and needy performers. He announces plans to expand aid to institutions for handicapped children and invites the audience to contribute. Eva Jablonka discusses evolution and epigenetics. Is there more to evolution than genetics? Many view the questions of consciousness as fundamentally unanswerable. But evolutionary biologist Eva Jablonka argues that by studying the evolutionary origins of consciousness, we can better understand its nature and work out what we should and shouldn't attribute consciousness to. Jablonka argues that a certain type of learning actually constitutes consciousness and satisfies all the conditions that philosophers, psychologists and cognitive scientists point to. According to these criteria, plants and fungi are not conscious, and AI in its current form certainly isn't. In fact, Jablonka argues tentatively that AI may never achieve consciousness, given the sheer level of complexity we find in biology. #evolution #darwin #genes Eva Jablonka is an evolutionary theorist and geneticist whose work pushes biology beyond a strictly gene-centred view of life. The Institute of Art and Ideas features videos and articles from cutting edge thinkers discussing the ideas that are shaping the world, from metaphysics to string theory, technology to democracy, aesthetics to genetics.
