SpaceX just CAUGHT a rocket booster! This is the first time anyone’s ever done that. Here's why this was so hard and why it's such a big deal... People have been trying to reuse expensive rocket components for a long time. Particularly the booster, the part that boosts the piece with people or cargo out of our atmosphere. NASA has their rocket boosters detach and fall into the ocean, which means a specialized dive team has to go get it from the ocean, disassemble, refurbish, and then reload it with propellant. SpaceX found ways to make their boosters turn around and propel themselves back to specialized landing areas, which was already a big deal and there’ve been a lot of hurdles along the way… That’s what makes this accomplishment so cool. Not only is it part of the biggest rocket ever, Starship, but it returned back to the exact spot it launched from and lowered itself precisely into giant metal arms on its first attempt. This means the world’s biggest and most powerful rocket is also quickly reusable - opening up so many possibilities for the future of spaceflight. Jambalaya Serves: 6 Prep time: 30 min Cook time: 45 min Ingredients: - 3 smoked sausages, sliced - 3 tbsp (45ml) olive oil - 4 chicken thighs, sliced - 1 brown onion, diced - 1 yellow capsicum (bell pepper), diced - 1 green capsicum (bell pepper), diced - 2 sticks celery, diced - 1 jalapeño, diced - 4 cloves garlic, finely diced - 8 sprigs thyme, finely sliced - 1 bay leaf - 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning - 1 tin crushed tomatoes (400g / 14oz) - 740ml (3 cups) chicken stock - 300g (1 ½ cups) uncooked long grain rice - 24 large prawns (shrimp), peeled and deveined - 3 spring onions, finely sliced - salt, to taste Method: 1. Place a large pan with a lid over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil, and once hot, add the sliced sausage. Sauté for 3-4 minutes. 2. Add the sliced chicken thighs and continue to cook, stirring often, for another 4-5 minutes. Then, add the diced onion and cook for 2 more minutes. 3. Next, add the yellow capsicum, green capsicum, celery, jalapeño, and garlic. Season with a pinch of salt and sauté for another 3-4 minutes. Add the chopped thyme, bay leaf, Cajun seasoning, and crushed tomatoes. Stir well. 4. Pour in the chicken stock and bring the mixture to a light simmer, stirring well. Once simmering, sprinkle the rice evenly across the surface of the pan and gently stir to ensure it’s distributed evenly. Cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat to low. 5. Cook the rice for 20 minutes. Then, lift the lid and add the prawns to the top. Continue cooking on low for another 7 minutes until the prawns are fully cooked. 6. Check if the rice is fully cooked by testing a grain. Once done, carefully stir the prawns through the rice. 7. Garnish with the sliced spring onions, serve, and enjoy! #shorts #cooking #food #seafood #chicken

Why do we need this new space suit to go back to the moon? In 2026, four astronauts will leave Earth on one of the most powerful rockets ever made. This Artemis III mission will be the first time anyone has been back to the moon since 1972. When they arrive, two of them will descend to the surface and spend 6 and a half days there, which is twice as long as anyone has ever spent on the moon. And they’ll be the first humans to explore this region near the lunar South Pole. To do that, these astronauts need to be able to stay outside on the lunar surface longer than ever before. For this big ambitious mission and for the future of space travel, we need the next generation of spacesuit… I got to be one of the first civilians to try on the prototype of the REAL SUIT that will bring humans back to the moon - and maybe to Mars. Could it be a coincidence that two founding fathers of modern day computing, independently from each other, are both coming with theories of consciousness that are idealist in nature? Or does a deep understanding of what computation is—and what it is not—inevitably lead away from physicalist ideas on consciousness? Previously Essentia Foundation presented the work of Federico Faggin, and now a legendary contemporary of his, computer engineer Bill Mensch, presents his Theory of Embedded Intelligence (TEI) to us. Mensch was a major contributor to the Motorola 6800 and became famous for his work on the MOS Technology 6502 CPU, a chip that, because of it’s efficiency, completely revolutionized computing in the 80’s. From Arcade halls to the Apple II and Nintendo 8 bit consoles, 6502s could be found everywhere. Even to this day the chip is still used in children's toys and even in pacemakers and satellites. Looking back at his career, Mensch realizes that building computer chips is in essence a form of ‘embedding’ intelligence in technology, just as nature has embedded intelligence in biological systems, like humans. In his TEI model intelligence is fundamental. This raises the philosophical question of how consciousness relates to intelligence, and for this reason Bernardo Kastrup joined in on the conversation Mensch and Hans Busstra had. The value of a theory like Mensch’s is perhaps exactly that it is not philosophically fine-tuned to the terminology commonly used in philosophy of mind. By not taking the human mind and phenomenal consciousness as its departure point, but intelligence instead, Mensch arrives at a position in which the distinction between living beings and abiotic systems is less distinct.
