This sweet and savoury Thai stir fried noodles recipe is one of the easiest, at-home dishes and you might even be able to cook it faster than me. Follow along in real time and let’s cook Pad See Ew together. PRODUCTS: https://bit.ly/AndyCooksEssentials COOKBOOK: https://bit.ly/3WVoXAN RECIPE: https://www.andy-cooks.com/blogs/recipes/pad-see-ew Ingredients - 2 tbsp light soy sauce - 3 tbsp oyster sauce - 2 tbsp dark soy sauce - 10 dashes Maggi seasoning - ½ tsp ground white pepper - 1 tsp sugar - 4 tbsp white vinegar - 4 bird's eye chillies, finely sliced - 4 chicken thighs, skin off, thinly sliced - 6 cloves garlic, finely minced - 1 bunch choi sum, cut into 2.5cm (1 inch) pieces, washed well - 1 packet fresh wide rice noodles (suitable for stir-fry) - 4 eggs - peanut oil for cooking Method 1. To make the Prik Nam, simply mix together the white vinegar, sliced chillies, 2 cloves of finely grated garlic, and ½ teaspoon of sugar. Set aside. 2. For the stir-fry sauce, mix together the light soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, and Maggi seasoning. Set aside until ready to use. 3. To marinate the chicken, add the sliced chicken thighs to a bowl with 1 tablespoon of cooking oil and 1 tablespoon of the stir-fry sauce. Mix well and set aside. 4. Make sure all your ingredients are ready before cooking: the sauces are prepared, the chicken is marinated, the vegetables are cut and washed, the garlic is minced, and the noodles are separated. 5. Once ready, heat your wok over high heat and add 2 tablespoons of peanut oil. 6. Working in 1–2 portions at a time, add the marinated chicken and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, moving it often. Then add 1 egg per portion and stir through the chicken. 7. Add the choi sum and toss for 20 seconds before adding the garlic and white pepper. Continue cooking for 2 minutes. 8. Add the rice noodles, a pinch of sugar, and a little more oil if needed. Toss and fry the noodles for 2 minutes. 9. Pour the stir-fry sauce around the outside of the wok and toss the noodles well to coat. 10. Cook for 2 more minutes, then serve with Prik Nam on the side. A debate about the viability of other dimensions turns to the complexities of quantum mechanics. Can the past be changed? Watch the full debate at https://iai.tv/video/journey-to-other-dimensions-roger-penrose?utm_source=YouTube&utm_medium=description&utm_campaign=journey-to-other-dimensions-roger-penrose Most of us take it for granted that there are three dimensions, perhaps four if we count time. But for over 200 years, mathematicians and scientists have proposed further dimensions. In some standard versions of contemporary physics eleven dimensions are now proposed. But might the notion of additional dimensions be an empty idea that derails physics? Richard Feynman argued that proponents of extra dimensions "cook up explanations" for what we can't observe. And CERN researchers admit that no empirical evidence for extra dimensions has ever been, and more importantly perhaps could ever be, discovered. Should we reject talk of higher dimensions as fantasy, good for sci-fi movies but not for theories of the universe? Would we be better to see extra dimensions as a mathematical tool rather than a description of reality? Or might multiple dimensions in fact describe the essential character of the world? #physics #multiverse #stringtheory #quantumphysics #quantummechanics 00:00 Introduction 00:15 Roger Penrose on other dimensions 02:47 Claudia de Rham on other dimensions 07:47 Avshalom Elitzur on quantum mechanics 12:17 Roger Penrose on quantum reality Nobel prize-winner Roger Penrose, philosopher of quantum mechanics Avshalom Elitzur, and theoretical physicist Claudia de Rham debate the possibility of multiple dimensions. Salmon Gravlax Ingredients - 1 side of salmon, skin on (you can use a smaller portion if needed, but ensure it has the skin) - 300g (10½ oz) cooking salt - 300g (10½ oz) sugar - 1 bunch fresh dill Method 1. In a bowl, mix together the salt and sugar. 2. On a tray, spread half of the salt and sugar mixture evenly. Place the salmon, skin side down, on top of the mixture. Cover the salmon with the remaining salt and sugar mix, ensuring it’s fully coated. Lay the dill on top of the salmon. 3. Place another tray on top of the salmon to weigh it down, then wrap everything tightly in cling film. 4. Place the tray in the fridge and allow the salmon to cure for 48 hours. 5. After 48 hours, remove the salmon from the fridge and rinse it well under cold water. Pat it very dry with paper towels. 6. Slice the salmon thinly, leaving the skin behind. Note: the tail end may be a little saltier as it is thinner than the rest of the fillet. 7. Any unsliced cured salmon will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. #cooking #fish #food #bagels
The chilling story of Unit 731 reveals one of the darkest chapters in human history. During World War II, Japan’s Unit 731 conducted horrifying experiments on live human subjects in the name of biological warfare. From vivisections to plague-infested weapons, the atrocities committed were unimaginable. But the horror didn’t end there. After the war, the U.S. government made a controversial deal with Unit 731’s leader, Shiro Ishii, to gain access to his research. Discover how these war crimes were used to fuel Cold War experiments, influencing programs like MKUltra. Explore the dark moral compromises that shaped modern warfare, the role of key CIA figures, and how the legacy of Unit 731 still haunts us today. Do you have a favorite conspiracy? Ideologies and Economies: Southern World Views/Northern World Views In this DeVane Lecture Series course, Professor David Blight examines the impact of slavery and racism on American institutions, past, present, and future. This course works from an assumption that racial slavery was a central theme of the history of the Americas, and its many endings and legacies live with us still. The course will pose the question “can it happen here?” In the 1930s, the “it” was fascism. The “it” in this case is intended to mean not only slavery and its myriad forms of enduring inequalities, but also the very existence of a pluralistic, democratic, multi-ethnic government and society rooted in the rule of law and living under a common constitution. There have been many pivot or hinge points in American history when the nature and existence of the American experiment, as well as human freedom and rights were on the line. The course will specifically examine slavery and Yale, the Civil War, and the many legacies of that period – political, constitutional, racial, economic, and commemorative – as they have shaped American life and polity ever since. To view all the classes as they are posted, please visit this playlist: Can It Happen Here Again? Big Tobacco’s Grip on Food Did you know that Big Tobacco has a major influence over the foods we eat? After purchasing large food companies in the 1970s and 1980s, they deployed thousands of scientists—many of whom previously worked in the cigarette industry—to engineer foods that keep us hooked. These foods are designed to be addictive, just like cigarettes. In this video, we explore how Big Tobacco manipulates the food industry and what you can do to break free from their grip. We’ll examine the hidden tactics they use, from chemicals to flavor engineering, and how understanding their influence can help you make healthier, more conscious choices. The first step to breaking the cycle of food addiction is awareness, and we’re here to guide you through it. Take control of your health and learn how to resist Big Tobacco’s influence on your food. #BigTobaccoFoodInfluence #FoodAddiction #BreakingFreeFromAddiction #BigTobaccoTactics #AddictiveFoods #HealthyEating #ConsciousChoices #FoodIndustryManipulation #BigTobaccoControl #ProvenConspiracies #ChemicalAddictionInFood #FoodEngineering #TakeBackYourHealth #FoodAwareness #BreakingTheCycle

Have you ever wondered why satellites don't just fall back to Earth? In this lesson, we demystify the concept of an orbit, explaining how an object can continuously fall towards Earth yet remain in space by achieving a precise balance of horizontal speed and the Earth's curvature. We'll explore the physics behind circular and elliptical orbits, the fascinating concept of escape velocity, and what 'weightlessness' truly means for astronauts. 🎯 Learning Objectives • Define an orbit as continuous falling with sufficient horizontal speed to miss the Earth's surface. • Explain the critical role of horizontal velocity in maintaining an object's orbit around Earth. • Differentiate between circular, elliptical, and escape velocity orbital paths. • Understand that astronaut weightlessness in orbit is due to continuous free fall, not zero gravity. • Distinguish between being in orbit and simply being in space. 📚 About the Course This course is an intuitive introduction to rocket science in our everyday lives. Modern life increasingly depends on technology provided by Earth-orbiting satellites, from detailed weather predictions to broad-band internet and GPS. How are satellites launched into orbit and how do they work once they get there? Why are rockets used to get into orbit and how are they different from airplanes? This introductory course is aimed at a wide non-technical audience and is appropriate for all ages. 📺 Watch the full playlist on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLh9mgdi4rNexC1fSWLlpQx_Gjj_0DhjVE 🎓 Enroll on Coursera for assessments and a certificate: https://www.coursera.org/learn/rocket-science-for-everyone 🌐 Explore more learning opportunities on Yale Online: https://online.yale.edu/courses/rocket-science-everyone #Yale #RocketScience #OnlineLearning #YaleOnline #STEMEducation #SpaceTech #ScienceForAll #LearnOnline
This is the world’s fastest boat. It could go 317 mph or 511 km/h! This kind of boat is called a jet hydroplane. Here’s how it works… These boats are wild... and also dangerous. That's why nobody has broken the world record set back in 1978. But it’s our obsession with speed that pushes us to build faster cars, planes, and boats. And I'm fascinated by the engineering behind that - so I’m actually working on a longer episode all about how the world’s fastest boats go so fast. Jack Symes, Steve Taylor, Frank Tallis, and Anneli Jefferson discuss the dangers of the inner voice. Do trains of thought take us to dark places? Watch the full debate at https://iai.tv/video/the-real-me?utm_source=YouTube&utm_medium=description Many identify themselves with their inner voice - the silent voice in our heads we can use to think, plan and ponder. But from Lacan to Nietzsche many have warned this inner voice is not ourselves, nor is it innocent or harmless. Studies from Durham University and Trinity College Dublin link the inner voice with increased anxiety. While others show those that take their own lives are often tortured by a subliminal voice. Furthermore, research at Imperial, and the University of Michigan found evidence that when our inner voice is reduced mental health improves. Should we conclude the inner voice is not the "real me", and its voice should be treated with caution? Should we seek to quieten the inner voice using techniques like psychotherapy, and meditation, and would doing so help combat the mental health crisis? Or did we evolve an inner voice for a reason, and should we see it as our conscience, a problem-solving tool, and a guide in our lives? #psychology #philosophy #innerpeace Steve Taylor is a senior lecturer in psychology at Leeds Beckett University and author of several best-selling books in the fields of psychology and spirituality. Jack Symes is a public philosopher, writer, and researcher at Durham University. Anneli Jefferson is a philosopher of psychology and moral philosophy, and lecturer at Cardiff University. Frank Tallis is a clinical psychologist who specialises in obsessive compulsive disorder. 00:00 Introduction 00:37 Jack Symes 02:16 Steve Taylor 03:56 Anneli Jefferson 06:05 Frank Tallis The Institute of Art and Ideas features videos and articles from cutting edge thinkers discussing the ideas that are shaping the world, from metaphysics to string theory, technology to democracy, aesthetics to genetics.
