De brand die gisteravond woedde in een leegstaande villa aan de Amsteldijk Noord in Amstelveen heeft grote indruk gemaakt op de buren. "Het schoot er aan alle kanten uit. Onwerkelijk." Het pand zou over minder dan een maand worden opgeleverd aan de nieuwe eigenaren. De politie heeft aanwijzingen dat de brand is aangestoken. Wat die aanwijzingen zijn is nog niet bekend.  De brand ontstond gisteren rond 21.00. "Het was bijna uit een film. Onwerkelijk. Bijna de hele tweede etage stond in de fik. Het schoot er aan alle kanten uit", vertelt een buurman. Het is al langer onrustig in het pand. De afgelopen jaren stond het leeg en deze zomer woonden er krakers. Nadat de vorige eigenaar naar de rechter stapte, vertrokken zij een paar weken geleden. De buren zijn eensgezind: "Dit heeft helemaal niets met de krakers te maken. We hebben er twee maanden naast gewoond en we kennen de groep. Wat er gebeurt met het werk van kunstenaars die net van de Rietveld Academie afgestudeerd zijn? Vaker dan ze lief is, belandt het al snel in een kartonnen doos op zolder. Veel kunstenaars die net student-af zijn, hebben moeite om een podium voor hun werk te vinden. Om daar verandering in te brengen kunnen Rietveld-alumni nu terecht op de werkvloer van een reclamebureau op de Houthavens. Een jaar lang mogen ze daar hun werk exposeren. Op de tentoonstelling No Fixed Outcome is van alles te zien: van glasobjecten en kinetische sculpturen tot analoge fotografie en olieverf. Een van de curators van deze expo is Freddy Tratlehner, de zanger van de Jeugd van Tegenwoordig was zelf ooit student op de Rietveld Academie, en hij ziet dat het best lastig kan zijn om als kunstenaar je eigen weg te vinden: ''We vonden het nodig dat deze alumni een podium krijgen en gezien worden", vertelt Tratlehner. "Je valt na het afstuderen best in een zwart gat en daarbij is het moeilijk om als kunstenaar een voet tussen de deur te krijgen.'' 'Vooral in de eerste jaren na het afstuderen kan het heel moeilijk zijn om je plek te vinden in de kunstwereld", zegt Inka Hilsenbek, één van de exposerend kunstenaars. "Het voelt vaak eenzaam om alleen te zijn in je studio, terwijl je nog niet goed weet wie je publiek is.'' Daardoor is het voor veel jonge kunstenaars dus heel moeilijk om een podium te krijgen voor hun werk. Kunstenaar Marthe Wille is heel blij dat ze haar werk hier kan laten zien. ''Na het afstuderen verdwijnt veel kunst in een kartonnen doos in een klein, donker kamertje. Hier krijgt dit werk een podium.'' ''Het thema van de tentoonstelling is 'no fixed outcome', oftewel het proces", vertelt de andere curator Jeroen Kramer. Dat is volgens hem goed zichtbaar in alle werken: ''In alles komt naar voren dat de werken gaan om het maakproces. Alles is met aandacht en zorgvuldigheid gemaakt." Het zijn geen makkelijke dagen voor Leon van Leeuwen, bekend van de Amsterdamse draaiorgelfamilie Perlee, na ruim 150 jaar restaureren van draaiorgels houden ze het voor gezien: de hele inboedel gaat onder de hamer.  De overgrootouders van Leon begonnen 1875 met het verhuren, bouwen en onderhouden van orgels. Sinds 1932 huist het bedrijf in de werkplaats, midden in de Jordaan. Leon zelf is boven de zaak opgegroeid, net als veel van zijn familieleden. Hij heeft het er ook moeilijk mee om alles te verkopen. "Ik ben ermee opgegroeid, het is toch wel echt emotioneel. Je bent ermee verbonden", vertelt hij. "Ik sta hier best nuchter erover te praten, maar vanbinnen borrel ik als een vulkaan", vervolgt hij.  Te weinig inkomsten De reden om te stoppen is simpel: financieel was het niet meer rendabel. Dat kan liggen aan de prijzen, maar ook aan dat vooral buitenlandse verzamelaars interesse hebben.  Topstuk is draaiorgel 'De Pipo', zegt veilingmeester Richard Singh en Leon. Volgens Richard genieten de orgels van Perlee internationale interesse, onder meer van verzamelaars uit de Verenigde Staten. Dat blijkt ook als een Amerikaan, speciaal voor orgel Pipo naar Amsterdam is gevlogen. "Ik vind het prachtig", vertelt de Amerikaan. Maar ook komt er een Japanner met veel interesse naar de veilig zaterdag. Leon hoop een ton binnen te halen voor de Pipo, maar het ook een beetje wat de gek ervoor geeft. Na de schietpartij op de NDSM-kade bleef de schutter minutenlang kwaad rondlopen. Ook gooide hij zijn pistool in het water en maakte hij zijn hond vast aan een plant. Dat is te zien op beelden van een getuige. De beelden zijn vandaag via persbureau Inter Visual Studio naar buiten gebracht. Het lijkt erop dat de getuige vlak nadat de schoten gelost waren is begonnen met filmen. Te horen is dat de schutter constant aan het schreeuwen is, in zichzelf, maar ook richting mensen op het terras. Duidelijk te horen is dat hij regelmatig 'what the fuck' roept. Hond Zijn hond loopt, zoals getuigen gisteren ook al vertelden, inderdaad los. De hond kijkt van een paar meter afstand toe. De verdachte gooit daarna het pistool het water in: het wapen zinkt een paar meter van de kade naar de bodem. De man roept zijn hond bij zich en lijnt hem aan. De riem maakt hij vast aan een plant. Vervolgens gaat hij weer terug naar het terras om richting het terras te schreeuwen. Hij loopt heen en weer van de kade naar het terras, kijkt op zijn telefoon en gaat op zijn knieën zitten. Beelden aanhouding Uiteindelijk wordt hij opgepakt door de twee agenten. De verdachte zit dan op zijn knieën, houdt zijn handen omhoog en luistert naar de instructies van de agenten. Getuigen van de schietpartij gaan daarna op de schutter af. Een van de twee agenten probeert hen op afstand te houden. Omdat dat niet goed lukt, pakt hij zijn stroomstootwapen om te dreigen. Snel daarna komen er nog twee agenten bij. Na de aanhouding heeft een agent zich over de hond van de verdachte ontfermd. Het wapen is een paar uur later door duikers van de politie omhoog gehaald.
