The world is waiting on the outcome of the elections in India on June 4. Not just to know who will govern Bharat, but because the world needs India's strong voice in diplomacy at this crucial time. Western commentators are retreating to old Cold War rhetoric of "defending the free world", and inflaming hotspots in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Will India and the BRICS nations help the whole world, and resist the Wild West's Last Stand for hegemony? Researchers just tested a bunch of AI models against a bunch of doctors. Here's who won... There were 4 groups: Large language models, groups of expert eye doctors, eye doctors in training, and unspecialized junior doctors. Everyone had to answer 87 questions from a standard test that doctors in the UK need to pass before becoming an eye specialist. Here's how they each did. The intention of this study is NOT to see if any AI tool can replace any doctors. This study just showed that in this one test, one model’s performance was almost as good as experts. We could imagine a world where more generalized doctors who don’t have easy access to a specialist could ask an AI for a second opinion or help make a referral or even help with a diagnosis. It’s one way researchers are exploring how to improve medical care for more people. If you like optimistic science and tech stories, subscribe for more of our show Huge If True. If you want to read the full study, search this: DOI:10.1371/journal.pdig.0000341 #science #sciencefacts #education #study

Build your basics, fill the gaps, and rise to more advanced levels of playing. ClassicalGuitarShed.com can help you on the journey. If you want to rise to new levels in your playing, it just takes time and strategic work. To play classical guitar well, you need to know: * how to hold and touch the guitar - form and positioning * how to move your fingers and hands - efficient, clean, and fluid * how to learn pieces - reading music, understanding what you see, ingraining, polishing * how to craft the music so it is beautiful - swells and fades, rhythm, touch * how to practice so all these skills improve over time and don't go away At the root of beautiful playing is a solid technique (aka “the way your hands move”). You may have beautiful music in your head, but if your hands can't play it, it won't come out of the guitar. But bad technique puts a limit on your playing. Speed, tone quality, and control can suffer. Good technique gets stronger and more instinctive with every practice. It forms the bedrock foundation for your music. And you may want to understand music so you learn it more easily and it makes more sense. This can help you avoid the excess frustration and dismay that comes with shoddy practice and prolonged confusion. But playing the notes is not enough. Like an actor bring words to life, we breathe life into our pieces. And we can do this in an organized way, day in and day out, reliably. Great musicians can play wonderfully in any mood. They do not rely on emotions. Instead, they create music that affects our emotions. This is a trained skill, not an inborn talent. Playing classical guitar is a long-term study. It's something we do in our homes as part of our days. We play for ourselves, for the quality it adds to life. We may enjoy playing guitar for others, but most of the time we are alone with our work. There are methods and formulas for great practice. We can use our time well so that see more progress. We can fix the problems and erase the mistakes. And we can enjoy conquering the plentiful challenges that classical guitar music offers. If you plan to play classical guitar for any length of time, it is worth it to get help. It's not something we can do on our own, like folk music. I have a structured and organized course to help you play classical guitar. If you like, you can learn more here: https://classicalguitarshed.com/membership/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=Reading_Music_vs_Sight_Reading_on_Guitar__What's_the_Difference?&utm_content=jR5cnwSO0QE If you would like to hear me (Allen Mathews) playing, visit my other youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/allenmathews/

Carol Gilligan, Katarzyna de Lazari-Radek, Richard Wrangham discuss morality. How much should we really value altruism? Watch the full debate at https://iai.tv/video/loving-oneself-and-loving-others?utm_source=YouTube&utm_medium=description From charity-givers, to those who sacrifice themselves in war for others, we see altrusim and selflessness as virtues to be applauded. Those who take no heed of their own interests are highly praised in Western culture. But many point to a danger. Studies show that altruism gone awry leads to tolerating abusive partners, eating disorders and depression. And critics argue that some of history's most horrific episodes rose from appeals to altruistic tendencies. Forced sterlizations in the West were justified as "better for all the world". Should we see unhampered altruism not only as futile, but actively dangerous? Are these virtues merely a device to defend outcomes we think beneficial for ourselves and exert power over others? Or is selflessness in fact vital and would relegating it to secondary status only see more corruption and self-absorption in society? #altruism #selflessness #morality Carol Gilligan is a Professor of Humanities and Applied Psychology at New York University. A feminist icon, she is best known for the classic In a Different Voice (1982). Katarzyna de Lazari-Radek is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Lodz. She is best known for her work on utilitarianism in collaboration with Peter Singer, most famously, The Point of View of the Universe (2014). Richard Wrangham is a Research Professor of Biological Anthropology at Harvard University. He is best known for his seminal work on primate social behaviour and the evolution of violence. Robert Lawrence Kuhn is the creator, writer, host and executive producer of Closer To Truth. Kuhn has written or edited over 30 books, including 'The Mystery of Existence: Why is there Anything At All?' and 'Closer to Truth: Challenging Current Belief'. When people 'die of old age', they really die from age-related diseases like heart issues, cancer, or respiratory diseases. Sadly, most of them can’t be cured today, but let’s assume for a minute that they could be in the near future. As soon as an organ fails, we could replace it and live on for as long as we wanted, right? #kurzgesagt #inanutshell #kurzgesagt #kurzgesagt_inanutshell #learnwithshorts #science #biologyclass #biologyshorts Sources & further reading: https://sites.google.com/view/kgs-tiktok-sources Follow us for more sciencey content! 🦆 OUR CHANNELS ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ German: https://kgs.link/youtubeDE Spanish: https://kgs.link/youtubeES French: https://kgs.link/youtubeFR Portuguese: https://kgs.link/youtubePT Arabic: https://kgs.link/youtubeAR Hindi: https://kgs.link/youtubeHI Japanese: https://kgs.link/youtubeJA Korean: https://kgs.link/youtubeKO HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ This is how we make our living and it would be a pleasure if you support us! At Madrasana, we occasionally experiment with new music genres, and the MadRasana Music Festival 2023 was one such occasion. This show featured The Indian Choral Ensemble (TICE) . Not only was the music different, but its presentation was also unique. The ensemble consisted of nearly 40 singers and four instrumentalists, with the singers spread throughout the auditorium to create a true surround sound experience. Except for the musicians on stage, almost all the singers' audio was captured using just a pair of microphones placed at the back. You may hear some audience noise, but when listened to on headphones, it provides a full acoustic sound experience. Try it out and let us know what you think! Lemon Bundt Cake Ingredients - zest of 4 lemons - 60ml (4 tbsp) lemon juice - 380g (3 cups) flour - 10g (2 tsp) baking powder - 5g (1 tsp) salt - 500g (2½ cups) sugar - 120g (½ cup) sour cream - 8 eggs - 450g (2 cups) unsalted butter, melted but not hot - 300g (2½ cups) icing sugar - 30ml (2 tbsp) milk - 30ml (2 tbsp) lemon juice Method 1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). 2. Zest the lemons, then chop the zest finely and set it aside. 3. In a large mixing bowl, weigh out the flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to combine and set aside. 4. In a separate bowl, add the sugar, sour cream, eggs, and lemon juice. Whisk until well combined. 5. Slowly pour in the melted butter while whisking continuously. Ensure the butter is warm but not hot to avoid cooking the eggs. 6. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and fold them together with a spoon until you have a smooth batter. The batter should have a loose consistency. 7. Grease a bundt cake tin with spray oil, then pour the batter into the tin. Tap it a couple of times on the counter to ensure it's even. 8. Bake the lemon bundt cake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. 9. Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool in the tin before turning it out onto a wire rack. 10. To make the icing, mix together the icing sugar, milk, and lemon juice until you have a smooth paste. Pour this evenly over the completely cooled bundt cake. Ensure the cake is fully cooled before icing to prevent the icing from running off. #cooking #baking #lemon #shorts #shortsvideo #viral #howto #food #foryou #recipe #asmr

In 1189, after Saladin's forces defeated Christian knights at the Battle of Hattin and captured Jerusalem, the Third Crusade began. King Guy of Jerusalem initiated a siege on the vital port city of Acre, resulting in a unique double siege as Saladin's forces simultaneously besieged the Crusaders. The prolonged conflict saw heavy losses and endured for nearly two years. European reinforcements, including Richard the Lionheart and Philip Augustus, eventually arrived, bringing crucial military strength. Acre fell to the Crusaders in July 1191, leading to continued conflict and the eventual withdrawal of some key leaders. Welcome to Chronicle; your home for all things medieval history!
