The reason you’re seeing pictures of colorful lights in the sky right now is because our planet just went through the biggest solar storm in more than 20 years! Here's what's going on. The sun often spews out super hot gas filled with charged particles. Luckily, Earth’s magnetic field protects us from them! But they can interact with gasses in our atmosphere, giving those molecules extra energy or “exciting” them - and as they relax back to their natural energy state, they release photons in different wavelengths or colors. THAT’s what we see. We call it the aurora borealis, or Northern lights. You can actually tell WHICH gas molecules got excited by the color! We're seeing the lights in way more places right now because we went through a big solar storm - but we were expecting it! Our Sun goes through cycles of about 11 years and we’re approaching another maximum right now. These lights are a beautiful reminder of how Earth’s magnetic field protects us and allows life to prosper, and it’s so cool that more people got to see it. And you may want to understand music so you learn it more easily and it makes more sense. This can help you avoid the excess frustration and dismay that comes with shoddy practice and prolonged confusion. But playing the notes is not enough. Like an actor bring words to life, we breathe life into our pieces. And we can do this in an organized way, day in and day out, reliably. Great musicians can play wonderfully in any mood. They do not rely on emotions. Instead, they create music that affects our emotions. This is a trained skill, not an inborn talent. Playing classical guitar is a long-term study. It's something we do in our homes as part of our days. We play for ourselves, for the quality it adds to life. We may enjoy playing guitar for others, but most of the time we are alone with our work. There are methods and formulas for great practice. We can use our time well so that see more progress. We can fix the problems and erase the mistakes. And we can enjoy conquering the plentiful challenges that classical guitar music offers. If you plan to play classical guitar for any length of time, it is worth it to get help. The only way to find out what the Enderby Shield, the only known Iron Age shield made from bark, may actually have looked like is to task a crack team of experimental archaeologists with crazy Iron Age skills, and a nose for detective work, to authentically recreate it. Curator of European and Roman Conquest period, Sophia Adams and this extraordinary team follow a trail of clues from laboratory findings at the British Museum, to marks and patterns on the remains of the shield itself, as they forensically piece together how this bark shield would have been constructed 2200 years ago. Pozole Ingredients: - 40g (1.4 oz) ancho chiles, cut and deseeded - 30g (1 oz) guajillo chiles, cut and deseeded - 30g (1 oz) pasilla chiles, cut and deseeded - 1 morita chile - 1 white onion, diced - 10 cloves of garlic, diced - 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) boneless pork shoulder, skin removed and cut into 5-6 pieces - salt, to taste - 4 tbsp peanut oil - 2 tbsp oregano - 3 bay leaves - 10 black peppercorns - 1 clove - 1 bunch coriander (cilantro), plus more for garnish - 1 can white hominy, drained and rinsed - 1 avocado, sliced, to serve - tortillas, to serve - lime wedges, to serve - sliced radishes, to serve Method: 1. Begin by placing the deseeded and cut chilies onto a roasting tray. Roast at 180°C (350°F) for 8-10 minutes, until they start to emit a fragrant aroma. 2. Season the pork thoroughly with salt on all sides. Heat a large Dutch oven over high heat with the peanut oil and sear the pork on all sides until well-coloured. Remove the pork from the pot and set aside. 3. Add the onions to the pot and sauté for 2-3 minutes before adding the garlic, oregano, clove, and black peppercorns, along with the roasted chilies from earlier. Return the seared pork to the pot and cover with cold water. Place a washed bunch of coriander on top, cover, and simmer on very low heat for 2 1/2-3 hours, or until the pork is extremely tender. 4. Half an hour before the pork is done, place the washed and drained hominy onto an oven tray and toast in a 180°C (350°F) oven for 10-15 minutes. 5. Once the pork is tender, remove it from the pot and set aside. Blend all the remaining cooking liquid until smooth, then return it to the pot. 6. Shred the pork and add it back to the pot with the hominy. Heat through. 7. Serve the pozole in bowls, accompanied by plates of diced white onion, sliced avocado, sliced radishes, lime wedges, additional coriander, and toasted tortillas on the side.
