Like an actor bring words to life, we breathe life into our pieces. And we can do this in an organized way, day in and day out, reliably. Great musicians can play wonderfully in any mood. They do not rely on emotions. Instead, they create music that affects our emotions. This is a trained skill, not an inborn talent. Playing classical guitar is a long-term study. It's something we do in our homes as part of our days. We play for ourselves, for the quality it adds to life. We may enjoy playing guitar for others, but most of the time we are alone with our work. There are methods and formulas for great practice. We can use our time well so that see more progress. We can fix the problems and erase the mistakes. Filipino empanadas Ingredients - 300g (10.6 oz) flour - 14g (1/2 oz) sugar, plus 1 tbsp for the filling - 7g (1/4 oz) salt, plus extra for seasoning - 90g (3.2 oz) cold butter, diced - 1 egg - 500g (1.1 lbs) beef mince - 1 onion, diced - 2 carrots, diced - 6 cloves garlic, finely diced - 200g (7 oz) frozen peas - 50g (1.8 oz) raisins - 2 tbsp tomato paste - 2 tbsp fish sauce - 100ml (3.4 fl oz) beef stock - beef tallow or oil, for frying Method 1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, 14g sugar, and 7g salt. Add the cold butter and use your fingertips to rub it into the flour until you achieve a sandy texture. Incorporate the egg and gradually add just enough cold water (about 3 tablespoons) to bring the dough together into a cohesive mass. 2. Shape the dough into a large disk, cover, and let it rest in the fridge for at least 1 hour. 3. While the dough is resting, start on the filling by browning the beef mince in a hot pan with a pinch of salt for 3-4 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside. 4. In the same pan, cook the onions and carrots for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften and colour. Add the garlic, then return the beef to the pan along with the peas, raisins, tomato paste, fish sauce, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and beef stock. Mix well and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until the liquid has almost completely evaporated. Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely before filling the empanadas. 5. After the dough has rested, remove it from the fridge and roll it out. Fold it like a letter for an envelope and roll out again. Turn 90 degrees and repeat the folding step. Place back in the fridge to rest for another hour. 6. When ready, divide the dough into 8 pieces (about 55g or 2 oz each) and roll them into balls. Then, roll each ball into a round disk about the size of a coaster. 7. Place some of the cold filling on one half of each disk, then fold over to create a half-moon shape. Crimp the edges tightly to ensure a good seal. 8. Fry the empanadas in beef tallow or oil at 180°C (356°F) for 6-7 minutes or until golden brown. #shorts #shortsvideo #foryou #recipe #cooking #viral

Er zijn zorgen over de gezondheidsrisico’s van landbouwgif. Toch wordt er – met name in de bollenteelt – nog volop gespoten met bestrijdingsmiddelen. Hoe kan dat? Al jaren zijn sierteeltproducten een van de belangrijkste exportproducten van Nederland. Maar die bloeiende handel heeft een keerzijde: nergens wordt zoveel gif gebruikt als in de lelieteelt. De pesticiden worden gebruikt om bloembollen te beschermen tegen schimmels, insecten of om het veld onkruidvrij te houden. Boeren zeggen het echt nodig te hebben, omdat de bollen niet meer zonder de bestrijdingsmiddelen kunnen. De bestrijdingsmiddelen die op het land gespoten worden komen door verwaaiing op andere plekken terecht. Onderzoek van het RIVM wijst uit dat in tuinen en ook binnenhuis resten van landbouwgif worden gevonden. Het zit zelfs in babyluiers. Al jaren maken omwonenden zich zorgen over wat deze blootstelling doet met hun gezondheid. Soms wordt er pal naast huizen gespoten. Het afgelopen decennium heeft Zembla meerdere uitzendingen gemaakt over bestrijdingsmiddelen en de gezondheidsrisico’s voor zowel boeren als omwonenden. Ook deden we onderzoek naar wat de overheid doet om burgers te beschermen. Wetenschappers en artsen wijzen op steeds meer onderzoeken waaruit blijkt dat landbouwgif schadelijk kan zijn voor de hersenen en voor de ontwikkeling van jonge kinderen. “Er is nooit goed onderzoek gedaan naar de blootstelling en de gevolgen voor burgers,” zegt toxicoloog De Wolff. Kinderarts Pieter Sauer stelt dat bestrijdingsmiddelen met name effect hebben op kinderen die nog in ontwikkeling zijn: “We weten dat als deze kinderen op jonge leeftijd worden blootgesteld aan deze stoffen, dat dat later een schadelijk effect kan hebben.” Ook wordt blootstelling aan landbouwgif in verband gebracht met Parkinson, een hersenziekte die ook steeds meer boeren treft. Toch doen boeren en de overheid weinig om het gebruik terug te dringen. Volgens de overheid leidt het gebruik van bestrijdingsmiddelen niet tot gezondheidsrisico's voor omwonenden. Maar we ontdekken dat Het College voor de toelating van gewasbeschermingsmiddelen en biociden (Ctgb) niet test op het gezondheidseffect van meerdere middelen samen. Het Ctgb is in Nederland verantwoordelijk voor het toetsen van de veiligheid van bestrijdingsmiddelen. Er wordt door het Ctbg ook niet goed gekeken of middelen schadelijk zijn voor de hersenen. Middels een Woo-verzoek ontdekken we dat het Ctgb informatie over de risico's van meerdere bestrijdingsmiddelen voor omwonenden, achterhield. Mortazza sandwich - ode to Evan Funke Ingredients - 1 pizza dough ball (recipe available on my website) - Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), for drizzling - 150g (5.3 oz) ricotta cheese - 1 lemon - 1/8 of a nutmeg, finely grated - 150g (5.3 oz) Mortadella, thinly sliced - 20g (0.7 oz) toasted pistachios, roughly chopped - cracked black pepper, to taste Method 1. Preheat your pizza oven to 450°C (840°F), or your home oven to its highest temperature and place a pizza steel inside to heat up. 2. In a bowl, combine the ricotta with a pinch of salt, freshly cracked black pepper, the grated nutmeg, and both the zest and juice of the lemon. Mix well to fully incorporate the seasonings. 3. Stretch out the pizza dough as if you were preparing a pizza base. Drizzle some EVOO over the dough, then fold it in half. Drizzle additional EVOO over the top. 4. Place the dough into your oven. Cook for 1-2 minutes in a pizza oven or it might take 4-5 minutes in a kitchen oven, until it's golden and puffed up. 5. Once the bread is cooked, carefully open it up (it will be hot) and fill it with the seasoned ricotta mixture. Layer the Mortadella slices on top of the ricotta, then garnish with the toasted pistachios. Finish with a final crack of black pepper and an extra drizzle of EVOO. #shortsvideo #shorts #pizza #LA
