In a redo of last winter's unsuccessful experiment, I pit a modern "fire grenade" against a smaller, more realistic fire, while also testing its usefulness as an automatic, "sentinel" - style fire extinguisher. Will this unusual device finally deliver on its promise? Watch to find out! NOTES: -Apologies for the blurry image at the beginning; this was a last-minute shoot on location and I had no means (laptop etc.) of checking footage before leaving. -The SD card in the high speed camera was improperly formatted, meaning I had to test both grenades in "sentinel" mode in order to get both the regular and high-speed footage of the explosion (using the same card in each camera). This is why I wasn't able to test throwing the grenade directly into the fire. -The reason the fire re-ignited immediately after the grenade went off (both times) is that the logs retained a lot of heat - which the grenade does nothing to reduce. Theoretically, the grenade would be more effective against, for example, a liquid fire, but the amount of heat it had to be exposed to before it exploded suggests that even such a fire would spread beyond control by the time the grenade was activated - still rendering it useless.

In this follow up video, we go back to 1995 to explore the supreme sound of that time...Hip Hop grooves with soul samples! In part one we covered New Jack Swing, however, it was being phased out by that time. Let's make it right by remaking the sounds from artist of the time like TLC, Mary J Blige and the emerging Bad Boy family. Let's dive back into the world of classic synthesizers, drum machines, and samplers that defined the sound of the 90s. Watch as I experience the challenges of working within the constraints of limited memory and editing tools, while at the same time, paying homage to the iconic Hip Hop/R&B styles and rhythms that dominated the charts in the mid-90s. ➤ Check out more videos from my beatmaking series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eB4nFACjWQ _______________________ ➤ Stream/Download my album: https://ffm.to/jams _______________________ ➤ Products and Gear Used in this video: Oberheim OBX8 Synthesizer ➡︎ https://amzn.to/3Odznpo Sony ZV-E10 Camera ➡︎ https://amzn.to/3OwlP9U Rode Wireless Pro II Microphone ➡︎ https://amzn.to/44WOJFw Amaran 100d Video Light ➡︎ https://amzn.to/3DwLg4W RGB LED Lights ➡︎ https://amzn.to/3Yp1N4J _______________________ ➤ Follow Jay Diggs: https://www.instagram.com/jaydiggsmusic https://www.tiktok.com/@jaydiggsmusic https://twitter.com/jaydiggsmusic https://www.jaydiggs.com _______________________ ⏱️Timestamps⏱️ 0:00 Intro 1:18 Technics SL 1200 2:02 Sampling Loops 3:41 The Drums 5:20 Bass Guitar 6:13 Experimenting 6:44 These Drums SUCK! 8:13 Taking it to another planet! This new electrode is a big deal for brain-computer interfaces. Here’s why. You might have seen interfaces controlling prosthetic limbs or converting brain waves into speech. Thing is, it’s pretty challenging to get these electrodes into people’s brains. Scientists typically use larger grids of electrodes, but that means removing at least an equal area of the skull through an invasive procedure called a craniotomy. This new electrode design can be inserted through a much smaller hole, then expands inside your skull. Scientists are hoping this will help make it much safer to implant electrodes and use them to perform speech recognition, treat neurological disorders like epilepsy, assess brain injuries, or more. Portugal is grappling with a housing crisis so severe that young people are being forced out of the country. With some of the lowest salaries, yet highest rent and house prices in the European Union, people like Diana have no choice, at 31, but to live in their family homes. For those who don't have that option like Beatriz, 24, the cost of living is so high that they've had to choose between studying and paying rent. In Portugal, the home-ownership rate among young people has plummeted by 50% over two generations, leaving Portugal's youngest generation with one request only ahead of the upcoming elections: "just fix it". #portugal #lisbon #housingcrisis #rentprices #porto

It's organized, structured, and strategic from the beginning, so you make the most of your time and avoid injury and frustration. Build your basics, fill the gaps, and rise to more advanced levels of playing. Free sheet music library: https://classicalguitarshed.com/music Free tutorials: https://classicalguitarshed.com/cgs-archives Structured classical guitar course: https://classicalguitarshed.com/membership Are you learning classical guitar or would like to learn classical guitar? ClassicalGuitarShed.com can help you on the journey. If you want to rise to new levels in your playing, it just takes time and strategic work. To play classical guitar well, you need to know: * how to hold and touch the guitar - form and positioning * how to move your fingers and hands - efficient, clean, and fluid * how to learn pieces - reading music, understanding what you see, ingraining, polishing * how to craft the music so it is beautiful - swells and fades, rhythm, touch * how to practice so all these skills improve over time and don't go away At the root of beautiful playing is a solid technique (aka “the way your hands move”). You may have beautiful music in your head, but if your hands can't play it, it won't come out of the guitar. But bad technique puts a limit on your playing. Speed, tone quality, and control can suffer. Good technique gets stronger and more instinctive with every practice. It forms the bedrock foundation for your music. And you may want to understand music so you learn it more easily and it makes more sense. This can help you avoid the excess frustration and dismay that comes with shoddy practice and prolonged confusion. But playing the notes is not enough. Like an actor bring words to life, we breathe life into our pieces. And we can do this in an organized way, day in and day out, reliably. Great musicians can play wonderfully in any mood. They do not rely on emotions. Instead, they create music that affects our emotions. This is a trained skill, not an inborn talent. Playing classical guitar is a long-term study. It's something we do in our homes as part of our days. We play for ourselves, for the quality it adds to life. We may enjoy playing guitar for others, but most of the time we are alone with our work. There are methods and formulas for great practice. We can use our time well so that see more progress. We can fix the problems and erase the mistakes. And we can enjoy conquering the plentiful challenges that classical guitar music offers. If you plan to play classical guitar for any length of time, it is worth it to get help. It's not something we can do on our own, like folk music. I have a structured and organized course to help you play classical guitar. Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli Ingredients: - 400g (14 oz) '00' Flour - 4 large eggs - 1 additional egg yolk - 400g (14 oz) baby spinach - 800g (1.76 lb) ricotta - 1/4 of a whole nutmeg, grated - 2 lemons - 100g (3.5 oz) butter - 10 sage leaves Method: 1. On your workspace, spread out the flour and create a well in the center. Crack in the 4 large eggs and add the extra egg yolk into this well. 2. Gently beat the eggs with a fork, gradually incorporating the flour from the sides of the well. As the mixture thickens, switch to using your hands to knead. Continue for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. 3. Shape the dough into a ball and wrap it in cling film. Let it rest in the fridge for 1 to 3 hours. 4. Boil the spinach until wilted, then drain and squeeze out any excess water. In a large mixing bowl, combine the spinach, ricotta, grated nutmeg, and the zest of 1 lemon. Season with salt and pepper to taste. 5. Roll out the pasta dough into thin sheets, then fold them over to create three layers (a process called laminating) and roll again. 6. Spoon small amounts of the filling onto one sheet, spacing them apart. Cover with another sheet and press down around each mound of filling to seal. Cut the individual ravioli using a ravioli cutter or a sharp knife. 7. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sage leaves and cook until crispy. Cook the ravioli in boiling salted water for about 2-3 minutes, or until they float to the surface. 8. Drain the ravioli and add them to the skillet with the brown butter and sage. Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon over the top and toss to coat. Serve immediately. #cooking #howto #shortsvideo #foryou #recipe #food #viral #cookingrecipes #asmr #pasta

David Baddiel speaks about how the desire for a God is fundamental to being human. Watch the full talk at https://iai.tv/video/the-god-desire?utm_source=YouTube&utm_medium=description Across the globe, many still believe in God and make attempts to prove the existence of a supreme being, but could it be that theistic belief is counter-intuitively itself sufficient proof for God’s non-existence? Is belief in God driven by an underlying human fear of mortality, or does religious belief provide more than just a get-out-of-death free card? Join famed comedian and award-winning author, David Baddiel, in conversation with Chine McDonald, director of the think tank Theos, as David unpacks the big questions surrounding mortality, the self, and the supernatural. This video is part one of a three-parter designed for both wine enthusiasts and those studying for their WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) Level 3 Certificate to assess the appearance of the wine. In this episode of our Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine (SAT) series, we explore: Clarity of Wine: Understand the difference between clear and hazy wines, and why clarity might not be as crucial for your Level 3 examination. Intensity of Wine: Learn how to assess the intensity of a wine by observing its color concentration from the core to the rim, using practical techniques. Whether you're a casual wine lover or a serious student, this video is packed with valuable insights. However, remember that while this video is free, parts two and three of the series are exclusively available on my e-learning portal at www.winewithjimmy.com. 🍷 Have Questions or Comments? I LOVE Legos. And I found an app that will scan a pile of unused Legos and shows you what you can build with them. It doesn't just give you build instructions, it will show you exactly where in your pile each piece is. It’s called Brickit. It's powered by a machine learning system that was first trained on 3D models of piled up lego bricks, and then on real world photos that app users sent in. Honestly, THIS is a good use of AI... Arepas This super tasty Venezuelan staple, Reina Pepiada arepas, really blew my mind. They're really not too hard to make and super tasty. Credit to Luis Herrera Di Prisco (@luisguayaba on insta) for the recipe inspo Ingredients: - 600g (about 1.32 lbs) PAN White Corn Flour (Harina PAN Blanca) - 3 tbsp olive oil - 2 tbsp salt - 4 chicken breasts - 1 white onion - 3 cloves garlic - 1 bunch of coriander (cilantro) - 8 black peppercorns - 1 red onion, diced - juice of 3 limes - 180g (about 6.35 oz) mayonnaise - 4 dashes Worcestershire sauce - 6 dashes Tabasco sauce - 2 avocados, sliced Method: 1. In a bowl, combine 1100g (about 2.43 lbs or 4.63 cups) of water with the olive oil and salt. Stir until the salt dissolves. Gradually stir in the PAN corn flour until you have a smooth, soft dough. Mix for 2 minutes, then let it rest for 2-3 minutes. 2. With oiled hands, roll the dough into balls slightly smaller than tennis balls and place them on a tray. 3. Heat a cast-iron pan over medium-high. Flatten a dough ball in your palm until it's slightly larger than your hand. Cook in the pan for 4-5 minutes on each side. Once cooked, place on a rack to cool. Repeat with the remaining dough. 4. For the chicken filling, fill a large pot with water. Add quartered white onion, garlic, coriander roots, peppercorns, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil. 5. Add the chicken breasts to the pot. Poach for 30 minutes on low simmer. Turn off the heat and let the chicken cool in the pot for 20 minutes before shredding. Tip: After removing the chicken, boil the water again, cool it, and use it as a light chicken stock. 6. In a bowl, mix the shredded chicken with mayonnaise, lime juice, diced red onion, finely chopped coriander, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, and about 2 tbsp of the cooking liquid. 7. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. 8. Preheat the oven to 250°C (about 482°F). Place the arepas on a tray in the oven for 5-6 minutes until they puff up slightly. 9. Cut open the hot arepas and fill them with the chicken mixture and sliced avocado. 10. Serve immediately and enjoy! #cooking #howto #foryou #shortsvideo #food #viral #recipe #asmr #cookingrecipes #arepas

This is basically mind reading: Researchers just reconstructed a Pink Floyd song using the brain activity of people listening to it. Neuroscientists at UC Berkeley played 29 patients Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall, Part 1” and they recorded their brain activity with implanted electrodes. Then, they used a regression-based model to decode the brain signals and reconstruct the song. It’s clearly not perfect, but you can hear the resemblance. Some are talking about using these findings to compose music directly from brain waves, but these scientists' goal is to make current neural prosthetics sound more natural. It truly feels like we are on the cusp of decoding our brains, and it’s incredible. This video is part of our show Huge If True.
