I've got a hole in me pocket
The surface of the ocean isn’t flat. And no, I don't mean waves or the curve of the Earth. The surface of the ocean is ever so slightly the SHAPE OF WHAT’S BELOW IT. And that can tell us more about what's really happening down in the deep. When you look at Google Maps of the ocean floor, some of that information comes from using radar satellites to measure these small changes in the ocean's surface... This short is part of Huge If True, our optimistic show about science and tech. We just made a longer episode all about mapping our oceans! ClassicalGuitarShed.com can help you on the journey. If you want to rise to new levels in your playing, it just takes time and strategic work. To play classical guitar well, you need to know: * how to hold and touch the guitar - form and positioning * how to move your fingers and hands - efficient, clean, and fluid * how to learn pieces - reading music, understanding what you see, ingraining, polishing * how to craft the music so it is beautiful - swells and fades, rhythm, touch * how to practice so all these skills improve over time and don't go away At the root of beautiful playing is a solid technique (aka “the way your hands move”). You may have beautiful music in your head, but if your hands can't play it, it won't come out of the guitar. But bad technique puts a limit on your playing. Speed, tone quality, and control can suffer. Good technique gets stronger and more instinctive with every practice. It forms the bedrock foundation for your music. And you may want to understand music so you learn it more easily and it makes more sense. This can help you avoid the excess frustration and dismay that comes with shoddy practice and prolonged confusion. But playing the notes is not enough. Like an actor bring words to life, we breathe life into our pieces. And we can do this in an organized way, day in and day out, reliably. Great musicians can play wonderfully in any mood. They do not rely on emotions. Instead, they create music that affects our emotions. This is a trained skill, not an inborn talent. Playing classical guitar is a long-term study. It's something we do in our homes as part of our days. We play for ourselves, for the quality it adds to life. We may enjoy playing guitar for others, but most of the time we are alone with our work. There are methods and formulas for great practice. We can use our time well so that see more progress. We can fix the problems and erase the mistakes. And we can enjoy conquering the plentiful challenges that classical guitar music offers. If you plan to play classical guitar for any length of time, it is worth it to get help. It's not something we can do on our own, like folk music. I have a structured and organized course to help you play classical guitar. Since opening in 1904 the New York City subway the payment system and the map has evolved quite a bit, here's how.
Hardly any other country in Europe is so strongly connected to the sea as the Netherlands. With a coastline of 2.000 kilometers, almost half of the country lies below sea level. Without protection, it would be completely flooded by the North Sea. But the Dutch are in their element when just men-tioning the seaside. Up until a hundred years ago, they used to pump the water from the lowlands back to the canals behind the dykes. Later they built modern flood barriers, huge dams and even laboriously wrested large areas from the unrelenting sea. Focaccia - caramelised onions, blue cheese and confit garlic Ingredients: - 500g (17.6 oz) flour - 4g salt - 4g sugar - 7g yeast - 325g (11.5 fl oz) water - 2 onions, sliced thick - 25 cloves of garlic, peeled - olive oil - 100g (3.5 oz) blue cheese Method: 1. In the bowl of a stand mixer (or just a normal bowl if you don't have a mixer), add the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast, and whisk. 2. Next, add the hook attachment (or wooden spoon) and turn to medium, stream in room temperature water and mix until the dough comes together and is smooth. This should take about 7-8 minutes in a mixer. 3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and bring it together into a ball, then grease the mixing bowl with some olive oil and place the dough back into the bowl, cover with a clean tea towel and leave in a warm spot to proof for an hour or until it has doubled in size. 4. Once doubled, turn out and fold it on itself, then in an oven dish drizzle 3-4 tablespoons of olive oil and place the dough into the dish. 5. Push the dough out so it stretches to all the sides, cover the dish and leave the dough to prove again for an hour. 6. While that is proving, place the garlic into an oven-safe dish with some thyme, salt, and olive oil, and bake at 140°C (284°F) for 40 minutes, remove and leave to cool at room temperature. 7. Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F). 8. Take the thick-sliced onions and place them onto an oven tray, drizzle with oil and season with salt on both sides. 9. Bake in the 200°C (392°F) oven for 10-12 minutes or until cooked through and starting to soften. 10. Once the dough has proven, drizzle some of the warm garlic oil on top and use your fingertips to poke a bunch of holes into the dough. 11. Use these holes to add the confit garlic, then top with the onions and blue cheese. 12. Bake at 200°C (392°F) for 25 minutes or until the bread is cooked and golden brown on top. #bread #bluecheese #baking #howto #lunchrecipe #easybread #foryou

For over half a century, the enduring occupation of Palestine has led to indescribable suffering being inflicted upon the Palestinian population. Leading Palestinian, Israeli and international human rights groups have said that the totality and severity of the human rights violations against the Palestinian population amount to the crime against humanity of apartheid. Living under the shadow of apartheid, individuals are left with a grim choice: silent suffering or resistance. Days ago, Hamas—the Islamist organisation that governs the blockaded and densely populated Gaza Strip—launched an unprecedented attack on Israel, with fighting raging well inside Israeli territory. Hundreds of Israelis and Palestinians have already been killed, many of them civilians. How can we bring a stop to the loss of innocent lives, and prevent a possibly catastrophic response from the far-right Israel government? How does this conflict relate to others around the world, including the war currently raging in Ukraine? And, most importantly, how can we achieve a lasting, just peace, in Palestine and beyond? That’s what our panel, including Yanis Varoufakis, Erik Edman and Julijana Zita, will discuss. End the siege on Gaza!
