Correction to what I say at 10:36 -- The ions are of course positively charged. Sorry about that! What if we could harness the power of photons to process information? We can! It's called photonic computing. It's one of the new approaches to quantum computing - and it's looking more and more likely that it could be the key to make quantum computers work. It's not the only newcomer. In this video, we'll take a look at photonic computing and two other newcomers: optical tweezers and topological quantum computing. Maybe the breakthrough for quantum tech is just around the corner. Make your new knowledge stick! A NASA spacecraft just returned to earth with part of an asteroid inside it! Back in 2016, NASA's OSIRIS-REx team sent a robotic spacecraft to collect a sample from the asteroid Bennu, which was chosen because it’s over 4.5 billion years old, carbon-rich, and might contain the biochemical building blocks for life. Here's how they captured a piece of the asteroid and why it matters... If you like optimistic science and tech stories, subscribe for more! #shorts #nasa #asteroid #bennu #space #stem #tech

The Bosnian War is the worst conflict on European soil since World War II. We went to Sarajevo and Banja Luka to meet Selma and Danilo, and learn what growing up in the country is like for the post-war generation. Selma and Danilo belong to two of the three ethnicities making up Bosnia and Herzegovina's people. To this day, ethnicity is tightly linked to religious denomination: the Balkan country is home to Bosniak Muslims, Orthodox Serbs and Catholic Croats. The groups fought a civil war against each other for four years: 100,000 people died, millions were displaced, and convictions of genocide and war crimes still cast a shadow on the country's unity. We went to Sarajevo and Banja Luka to meet the post-war generation left to build their country's future without having the same version of the past. NB: We chose to identify Banja Luka as the capital of RS because it is, de facto. Sarajevo is that of the entire country, but the seat of government of the Republika is in Banja Luka. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Chapters: 00:00 - 01:06 Intro 01:06 - 02:07 Bosnia's ethnic communities 02:07 - 04:35 War stories 04:35 - 05:08 The dissolution of Yuguslavia 05:08 - 05:54 Bosnia's missing chapter 05:54 - 07:08 1992, the war begins 07:08 - 08:06 Srebrenica 08:06 - 09:27 No common ground 09:27 - 10:20 Post-war nationalism 10:20 - 11:48 A precarious system 11:48 - 12:34 Road to EU 12:34 - 13:41 What's next? 13:41 - 14:10 Credits

Mongolian Beef Ingredients: - 1 onion, diced - 4 spring onions, sliced thick - 4 cloves garlic, finely diced - 1 red chilli, finely sliced - thumb-sized piece of ginger, finely grated - 500g (17.6 oz) steak, thinly sliced (rib meat, sirloin, rump, or flank work well) - 4 tbsp soy sauce - 100g (3.5 oz) cornflour - 1 tbsp peanut oil - 500ml (16.9 fl oz) tallow or peanut oil for frying - pinch of MSG - 50ml (1.7 fl oz) water - rice to serve Method: 1. Marinate the beef in 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons cornflour, and 1 tablespoon peanut oil. Mix and leave in the fridge for 1-3 hours to marinate. 2. Next, add the 500ml tallow or oil to a wok or pot and heat over high heat. When a chopstick bubbles when inserted in the oil, it's good to go. 3. Add the rest of the cornflour to the marinated beef and toss well before frying in the hot oil. 4. Fry for 3-4 minutes, then remove from the oil and set aside. Remove most of the oil from the wok, then place it back over high heat. 5. Add the onions, spring onions, garlic, chilli, and ginger. Toss well and cook for 3 minutes before adding the beef back to the wok. 6. Season with MSG and the remaining soy sauce, toss well, and then add the water. Cook for 3-4 more minutes and serve over steamed rice. 7. Enjoy! #recipe #beef #shorts #howto #wok #cooking ##cookingrecipes

In this episode, we're diving headfirst into the enchanting world of Lambrusco, a fascinating Italian sparkling wine hailing from the stunning region of Emilia-Romagna. This series on sparkling wines designed for those pursuing the WSET Diploma. If you're on this journey, you're in the right place. But don't worry, if you're just a wine enthusiast looking to expand your knowledge, I've got you covered too! I'll be your guide as we explore the key grape varieties and appellations that make Lambrusco truly unique. Ever heard of Lambrusco Salamino? It's known for its fragrant, deep-colored, full-bodied wines with a zingy acidity. And fun fact – its name is derived from its grape shape, which resembles a salami! Next up is Lambrusco Grasparossa, often called the noble variety. It thrives in clay and silty soils, producing deep-colored, full-bodied wines with a delightful touch of grippy tannin. Keep an eye out for this gem in the hillsides of southern Lambrusco's vineyard area, particularly around Castelvetro. We can't forget Lambrusco di Sorbara, which crafts pale, light-bodied wines with a vibrant acidity. You'll notice those sizable grapes in the picture. It's all about the details, right? This variety thrives in the vicinity of Modena and the location of Sorbara itself. But wait, there's more! I'll briefly mention other Lambrusco DOCs, like Lambrusco Reggiano near Reggio Emilia and Lambrusco di Modena around Modena. Each has its own unique characteristics, and I'll share a few insights. Have you ever been to Bologna, Parma, Modena, or tried Lambrusco? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below – I'd love to hear from you! Stay tuned for the final video in this series, where we'll deep-dive into the winemaking process (Part Four). But here's the deal – Parts One and Two, along with Part Four, are exclusively available on my e-learning portal at www.winewithjimmy.com. Thanks for tuning in and joining me on this exciting journey through the world of Lambrusco. Ciao for now! 🍷🇮🇹 #Lambrusco #ItalianWine #WineEducation

Free sheet music library: https://classicalguitarshed.com/music Free tutorials: https://classicalguitarshed.com/cgs-archives Structured classical guitar course: https://classicalguitarshed.com/membership Are you learning classical guitar or would like to learn classical guitar? ClassicalGuitarShed.com can help you on the journey. If you want to rise to new levels in your playing, it just takes time and strategic work. To play classical guitar well, you need to know: * how to hold and touch the guitar - form and positioning * how to move your fingers and hands - efficient, clean, and fluid * how to learn pieces - reading music, understanding what you see, ingraining, polishing * how to craft the music so it is beautiful - swells and fades, rhythm, touch * how to practice so all these skills improve over time and don't go away At the root of beautiful playing is a solid technique (aka “the way your hands move”). You may have beautiful music in your head, but if your hands can't play it, it won't come out of the guitar. But bad technique puts a limit on your playing. Speed, tone quality, and control can suffer. Good technique gets stronger and more instinctive with every practice. It forms the bedrock foundation for your music. And you may want to understand music so you learn it more easily and it makes more sense. This can help you avoid the excess frustration and dismay that comes with shoddy practice and prolonged confusion. But playing the notes is not enough. Like an actor bring words to life, we breathe life into our pieces. And we can do this in an organized way, day in and day out, reliably. Great musicians can play wonderfully in any mood. They do not rely on emotions. Instead, they create music that affects our emotions. This is a trained skill, not an inborn talent. Playing classical guitar is a long-term study. It's something we do in our homes as part of our days. We play for ourselves, for the quality it adds to life. We may enjoy playing guitar for others, but most of the time we are alone with our work. There are methods and formulas for great practice. We can use our time well so that see more progress. We can fix the problems and erase the mistakes. And we can enjoy conquering the plentiful challenges that classical guitar music offers. If you plan to play classical guitar for any length of time, it is worth it to get help. It's not something we can do on our own, like folk music. I have a structured and organized course to help you play classical guitar. Ingredients: - 500g (17.6 oz) flour - 125g (4.4 oz) lard, ice cold and diced - 125g (4.4 oz) unsalted butter, ice cold and diced - 400g (14.1 oz) beef rump, diced - 200g (7.1 oz) potatoes, diced - 150g (5.3 oz) swede, diced - 150g (5.3 oz) onion, diced - small bunch thyme, finely sliced - 1 egg, beaten - salt and pepper Method 1. Add the flour, butter, lard, and a big pinch of salt to a food processor and process until the fat is well incorporated. 2. Next, with the processor still running, pour in around 150ml of ice-cold water. Start with 100ml and keep adding little by little until the dough comes together. 3. Turn this out onto a clean bench and bring it together with your hands. Wrap it in cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes. 4. To make the filling, simply add the beef, potato, swede, onions, and thyme to a bowl. Season with salt and pepper and mix well. 5. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) and then roll out the dough, aiming for the dough to be 30-40mm thick. 6. Using something round, cut out disks of the pastry. 7. Place the filling into one half of a disk of pastry and then fold the other side over, crimp the edges well, and then place onto a lightly greased oven tray. 8. Poke 2 small holes in the top of each one, then brush with the egg wash, and bake in the oven at 180°C (356°F) for 45 minutes. 9. Let them rest for at least 15 minutes after you take them out of the oven because these things are super hot. #baking #beef #pies #dinner #recipe #lunchrecipe #howto #food #cooking #shorts
Light (or photons) is massless. Yet, photons have momentum given by the equation P = E/c. Where E is the energy the photon enegy and c is the speed of light. The goal of this video is to gain a deep intuition behind it. First to understand where the light's momentum really comes from. Second, to use that intuition to derive the equation without using anything quantum. But, by connecting all the fundamental equations of high school electromagnetism. I first learnt about this from Feynman lectures. You can find his actual derivation in the last paragraph of his Volume 2, chapter 34 - "Relativistic effects in radiation". https://www.feynmanlectures.caltech.edu/I_34.html#:~:text=We%20now%20appreciate%20that%20light,%CF%89%2Cp%3D%E2%84%8Fk.

Investigating a Bronze Age barrow in the New Forest, Tony and the team uncover a Saxon Cemetery with a startling array of grave goods - spears, shields, jewelry - and a collection of rare buckets unique in Britain. A Byzantine brass bucket - one of only 11 in the world - was found during a three-day live dig in a Saxon cemetery a year ago. Time Team is now returning to find out more about the people who lived and died here. The Staffordshire Hoard is the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold and silver metalwork yet found. It is described as "possibly the finest collection of early medieval artifacts ever discovered. Welcome to Chronicle; your home for all things medieval history! Adolf Hitler is determined to change the way German people think and feel by creating a new, Nazi form of art and culture. Hitler bans modern art, promoting simplistic, heroic images of strong, warrior men and fertile women, preparing his people for the roles he has assigned them in his coming war. Most people don’t understand just HOW DEEP the ocean really is. If you put Mt. Everest into the water upside down, there would still be over a mile before you got to the bottom. It’s roughly the average cruising altitude of a 737 airplane! Imagine you walk off the coast into the water. Here's what you'd see... This short is part of Huge If True, our optimistic show about science and tech. We just made a longer episode all about mapping our oceans! Serves: 4 Prep time: 20min Cook time: 45min Ingredients: - 1 cinnamon stick - 3 cloves - 1 vanilla pod, halved with seeds removed - 400ml (13.5 fl oz) coconut milk - 400ml (13.5 fl oz) milk - 200ml (6.8 fl oz) cream - 1/4 grated nutmeg - zest of 1 lime - 3 tbsp brown sugar - 225g (7.9 oz) short-grain rice (e.g., Arborio) Method: 1. In a shallow, oven-safe pan, place the cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla. Toast lightly for 1-2 minutes. 2. Pour in the milk, coconut milk, and cream. Add the lime zest, brown sugar, and nutmeg. Stir and bring the mixture to a light simmer. 3. Sprinkle in the rice. (Contrary to Uncle Roger's advice, for this dish don't wash the rice as you want the starch to help thicken the pudding.) Stir gently and transfer the pan to a preheated 160°C (320°F) oven. 4. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the rice is cooked through and the top has a lovely golden colour. 5. Serve and enjoy! #rice #food #cooking #pudding #dessert #baked #howto
