Democrats are calling for an ethics investigation into Republican Congressmember Max Miller of Ohio, who is facing allegations of domestic abuse as he runs for reelection. Miller's ex-wife Emily Moreno, daughter of Ohio Republican Senator Bernie Moreno, claims that Miller burned her by throwing hot water at her, held a gun to her head and fractured their 2-year-old daughter's collarbone. Mother Jones obtained around 2,000 pages of court filings and police reports pertaining to Miller, which include allegations dating back to high school. "There is an established pattern of multiple women claiming that they were abused by Congressman Max Miller," says Abby Vesoulis, national politics reporter for Mother Jones. Vooral als de stad ontwaakt is het op heel veel plekken in de binnenstad een enorme puinhoop, vaak omdat statiegeldjagers 's nachts vuilnisbakken hebben opengebroken. Bijna dagelijks krijgen we bij AT5 mailtjes, appjes of telefoontjes van Amsterdammers die boos, verdrietig of bezorgd melding maken van de troep op straat. En dat is nu de hele wereld hier op visite is voor de World Pride zeker niet iets om trots op te zijn. Ook de Prinsengracht ligt, terwijl er vlakbij gewerkt wordt aan de tribunes voor de Canal Parade, rond 8.30 uur vol afval. "De daklozen of de statiegeld-verzamelaars doen ze open", vertelt een bewoner. "Ze staan ook gewoon open, de gemeente doet ze niet meer op slot. En daarna gaan de meeuwen erin." In de Leidsebuurt, even verderop, is het eerder op de ochtend ook bij meerdere prullenbakken raak. "Ik loop elke ochtend hier naar werk", vertelt iemand die in het centrum werkt. "En het is gewoon een grote vuilnisbelt hier. Dat stoort me wel." Een Amerikaanse toerist vertelt op het Muntplein dat er in San Francisco nieuwe prullenbakken zijn gemaakt om te voorkomen dat er in het afval gegraaid wordt. Ook in Amsterdam worden de afvalbakken aangepast in de hoop dat er minder afval op straat belandt. Er is met een nieuw model afvalbak met een zelfsluitende klep getest, maar een doorontwikkeling van dat model is nog lang niet overal in de stad te zien. In een gemeentelijk stuk werd eerder geschreven dat de eerste 200 stuks aangepaste afvalbakken deze zomer verwacht worden. Die zouden achter het Centraal station, op de Kinkerstraat, bij Station Noord, op het Museumplein, in de Amsterdamse Poort, op het Osdorpplein en in Oostpoort komen. Dat betekent ook dat andere bekende vieze plekken, zoals de Leidsebuurt, grachten en het Rokin, de komende tijd nog de oude prullenbakken die een klep hebben die vaak open blijft staan houden. "Ze hebben geloof ik nieuwe vuilnisbakken in het verschiet, maar ik weet nog niet hoe dit gaat lopen", vertelt iemand die in de buurt van het Leidseplein woont. Ze vindt dat er haast gemaakt moet worden. "Dit ziet er toch niet uit." Mede vanwege het vele afval rond de afvalbakken zijn er elke dag een groot aantal vuilophalers op de been. Dat was vanochtend ook zo, maar de hoeveelheid afval is zo groot dat het op veel plekken in de ochtend nog lange tijd duurt voordat alles is opgeruimd. Working On A Simplex Steam Locomotive - Part #33. Painting the Boiler Backhead with Etch Primer. Although this is designed to etch Steel, it sticks very well to other metals. The Steam Chest Gland adjusters were damaged and I re-machined them. Once the Primer was dry after 24 hours I painted the Backhead Gloss Black. I replaced the Gland Packing with a couple of Steam Grade Silicone O Rings. It shows part of the era after WWII when Vespa scooters came into their own. Piaggio introduced the lightweight motorscooter in 1946, and Europe, devastated by WWII, and hungry for affordable, efficient transportation, was never the same. The Vespa was also tremendous fun to ride, and Vespa clubs with male and female members formed almost immediately. Audrey Hepburn sent sales of the Vespa on fire in 1952 with her haphazard jaunt through the streets of rome in the classic film 'Roman Holiday'; by 1952, Vespa club membership reached 50,000 worldwide, and things were just getting started. British Vespa club members from Birmingham, South Devon and Holbe Park can be seen having their innocent fun in this montage of early club events: scooter gymkhanas, scooter jousting, scooter acrobatics to name a few, not to mention tons of regalia .
