Anti-immigration, anti-LGBTQ, anti-Europe … far-right parties are on the rise in many countries in Europe – and in some, they are bringing their policies to power. From Finland to Italy, to Austria to France, multiple far-right parties are enjoying unprecedented levels of support and acceptance – even though many of them have roots in neo-Nazi movements. Does this frighten young people – or do they support these parties?! In Italy, despite a major social media campaign designed to hook in young people, Gen Z pretty much rejects Giorgia Meloni’s Brothers in Italy. But in Sweden, Gen Z actually voted more for the far-right than older age groups. We questioned experts, young people and journalists to find out why. In our series of explanations "Done Differently" we take a look at how current topics that move you are discussed elsewhere. We welcome feedback below the video. If you liked it, give us a Like and subscribe. ------------------ ENTR. Young, bold, European. During the First World War, armies had to develop all sorts of specialized equipment to deal with the unique conditions of trench warfare. Among the most vital of these were trench periscopes, which allowed troops to observe the battlefield in relative safety. Dozens of different models of periscopes were issued during the War, from simple bayonet-mounted mirrors to sophisticated magnifying optics. ✨Based on true events✨ The task was to choreograph a dance to this song selected by @steezystudio for a video series they have where they get 3 choreographers to use the same song! Although back in the day I used to do a lot more contemporary style dancing, that’s not my go-to anymore but the seriousness of this song gave me no other option…well sort of. My way around doing the standard was to take unserious movement and execute it seriously. And obviously what better unserious movement than the natural struggles of folding a god damn foldable backdrop. We love it and hate it at the same time. Thanks @steezystudio for having me! They post episodes of this series every week with new choreographer’s and it’s always so interesting to see the variety! Music by @david.kushner “Daylight”
Anger is palpable in the streets of France today, as the recent killing of 17-year-old Nahel by police during a traffic stop ignited countrywide protests. Such large-scale unrest hadn’t been seen since the Gilet Jaunes movement took off five years ago. As a result of this, and of his extremely unpopular pension reform – which also saw widespread protests – Emmanuel Macron's popularity has hit rock bottom, with support surging for both the far-right and the Left. What does all of this mean for people in France, and what lessons can be learned by those elsewhere in Europe? Recognized as the Pioneer of Impressionism, Pissarro captured the essence of rural and urban French life. Focusing on landscapes near Pontoise and scenes from Montmartre, his art showcased empathy towards peasants and workers while occasionally reflecting his radical political beliefs. Pissarro's influence extended beyond his own creations, serving as a mentor to Paul Cezanne and Paul Gauguin, and inspiring a generation of emerging artists. ClassicalGuitarShed.com can help you on the journey. If you want to rise to new levels in your playing, it just takes time and strategic work. To play classical guitar well, you need to know: * how to hold and touch the guitar - form and positioning * how to move your fingers and hands - efficient, clean, and fluid * how to learn pieces - reading music, understanding what you see, ingraining, polishing * how to craft the music so it is beautiful - swells and fades, rhythm, touch * how to practice so all these skills improve over time and don't go away At the root of beautiful playing is a solid technique (aka “the way your hands move”). You may have beautiful music in your head, but if your hands can't play it, it won't come out of the guitar. But bad technique puts a limit on your playing. Speed, tone quality, and control can suffer. Good technique gets stronger and more instinctive with every practice. It forms the bedrock foundation for your music. And you may want to understand music so you learn it more easily and it makes more sense. This can help you avoid the excess frustration and dismay that comes with shoddy practice and prolonged confusion. But playing the notes is not enough. Like an actor bring words to life, we breathe life into our pieces. And we can do this in an organized way, day in and day out, reliably. Great musicians can play wonderfully in any mood. They do not rely on emotions. Instead, they create music that affects our emotions. This is a trained skill, not an inborn talent. Playing classical guitar is a long-term study. It's something we do in our homes as part of our days. We play for ourselves, for the quality it adds to life. We may enjoy playing guitar for others, but most of the time we are alone with our work. There are methods and formulas for great practice. We can use our time well so that see more progress. We can fix the problems and erase the mistakes. And we can enjoy conquering the plentiful challenges that classical guitar music offers. If you plan to play classical guitar for any length of time, it is worth it to get help. It's not something we can do on our own, like folk music. I have a structured and organized course to help you play classical guitar. If you like, you can learn more here: https://classicalguitarshed.com/membership/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=Francisco_Tarrega_Capricho_Arabe_Free_Classical_Guitar_Sheet_Music&utm_content=MSi87miAbMY If you would like to hear me (Allen Mathews) playing, visit my other youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/allenmathews/

In this video Yanis Varoufakis explains why the people of Ireland should guard Irish neutrality with their lives. He also talks about Putin's war crimes and why NATO wants the war in Ukraine to go on forever. CONTEXT In June 2023, the Irish government held a "Consultative Forum on International Security Policy," intended to "open a discussion" about Ireland's policy of neutrality. On Saturday June 24, 2023, Clare Daly and Mick Wallace hosted an event of international speakers in the Morrison Hotel in Dublin to contest the government's narrative, and urge the defence of Irish neutrality. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe. The Oxford Union is deeply grateful and encouraged by the messages of support in response to our determination to uphold free speech. During our 200 year history, many have tried to shut us down. As the effects of self-imposed censorship on university campuses, social media and the arts show no signs of dissipating, the importance of upholding free speech remains as critical today as it did when we were founded in 1823. Your support is critical in enabling The Oxford Union to continue its mission without interruption and without interference. You can support the Oxford Union here: https://oxford-union.org/supportus

Ad: Check out the link to start your Fanhome Collection today: https://bit.ly/JamesBruton_Prime Day of the Tripods was originally an HG Wells Novel written in around 1897. There have been many adaptations since including a film in 1953 and another remake featuring Tom Cruise in 2005, and many other TV series and other media. But can Tripods really walk? They only have three legs which means they have to stand on two legs while taking a step with the other leg. I decided to build a 3D printed tripod robot which can walk along - calculating inverse kinematics and defining the gait. The Leichtgeschütz (Light Gun) 42 was designed by German firm Rheinmetall during the Second World War to provide airborne troops with lightweight artillery support that could be easily air-dropped. Among the first recoilless weapons to be fielded, it used a shell with a breakaway plastic plug that allowed propellant gas to vent out a venturi in the rear, cancelling out recoil. A highly influential design, it would inspire a whole family of recoilless weapon - many of which are still used today. Microplastics are a big pollution problem in the ocean. They're tiny particles of plastic that can clog the intestines of fish and destroy the tissues of marine creatures. But these mussels help filter them out of the water... with their poop. Where does that money go? Take Libya as an example. “The Libyan coast guard and other state-led entities funded by the EU are deeply involved in crimes against humanity. They are involved in smuggling and trafficking and slavery. They keep the people detained. They torture them to push family members to pay them. "So they use it to blackmail family members and they profit hugely from smuggling them and these are the entities usually funded by the EU. So, the UN concluded that the EU, with its funding, contributes to crimes against humanity," according to Dutch MEP Tineke Strik. #refugees #humanrights #migrantcrisis
