During the long years of the Dark Ages, the flickering flame of art was kept alive principally by the church, with cathedrals such as Santa Maria Del Fiore and Notre-Dame built to mark emerging cities. While all around was dark, the great masters of Medieval art such as Giotto and Van Eyck worked within the confines of the religious world and laid the seeds for the Renaissance which was to follow. Join me for this live stream when I will explore your questions and mine about similarities between the world crisis of 1914 that led to World War One, and the world crisis today that could lead to World War Three. I will share five of the best recent history books on World War One that offer some unusual perspective on the great crisis today, involving the confrontation between the USA, and the European Union (Atlantic World), and the great states of Eurasia. Let's not sleepwalk to war. Let's learn from history and ourselves.

ClassicalGuitarShed.com can help you on the journey. If you want to rise to new levels in your playing, it just takes time and strategic work. To play classical guitar well, you need to know: * how to hold and touch the guitar - form and positioning * how to move your fingers and hands - efficient, clean, and fluid * how to learn pieces - reading music, understanding what you see, ingraining, polishing * how to craft the music so it is beautiful - swells and fades, rhythm, touch * how to practice so all these skills improve over time and don't go away At the root of beautiful playing is a solid technique (aka “the way your hands move”). You may have beautiful music in your head, but if your hands can't play it, it won't come out of the guitar. But bad technique puts a limit on your playing. Speed, tone quality, and control can suffer. Good technique gets stronger and more instinctive with every practice. It forms the bedrock foundation for your music. And you may want to understand music so you learn it more easily and it makes more sense. This can help you avoid the excess frustration and dismay that comes with shoddy practice and prolonged confusion. But playing the notes is not enough. Like an actor bring words to life, we breathe life into our pieces. And we can do this in an organized way, day in and day out, reliably. Great musicians can play wonderfully in any mood. They do not rely on emotions. Instead, they create music that affects our emotions. This is a trained skill, not an inborn talent. Playing classical guitar is a long-term study. It's something we do in our homes as part of our days. We play for ourselves, for the quality it adds to life. We may enjoy playing guitar for others, but most of the time we are alone with our work. There are methods and formulas for great practice. We can use our time well so that see more progress. We can fix the problems and erase the mistakes. And we can enjoy conquering the plentiful challenges that classical guitar music offers. If you plan to play classical guitar for any length of time, it is worth it to get help. It's not something we can do on our own, like folk music. I have a structured and organized course to help you play classical guitar. If you like, you can learn more here: https://classicalguitarshed.com/membership/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=Francisco_Tarrega_Marieta_Free_Classical_Guitar_Sheet_Music&utm_content=zxkgcNTcLn0 If you would like to hear me (Allen Mathews) playing, visit my other youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/allenmathews/

99% of cubers don't know how to solve a Rubik's cube! Here’s the logical way to do it. (needs patience) When I was just 10 years old, I got my first Rubik's cube After few days of tinkering, I solved the first layer. It felt amazing! For the next 10 years, I was stuck. I couldn't solve the rest of it. Then, I stumbled upon the 'easy way.' It involved memorizing a bunch of moves. 'Hold it a certain way, and then go like, 'R, L, U... ' switch your grip and do some 'F, U, L...'. And just like that, I solved it. That's how most people solve it. After a few times, your muscle memory kicks in. But here's the thing, I wasn't really 'solving' anything. I only memorized someone else's solution. I had no clue what I was actually doing. Most do the same thing. So, a few years ago, I tried a different approach. I wanted to unravel the logic. I tried making sense of algorithms, But, it didn’t work. They were complex. I scoured the net like crazy, searching for a logic. All I found were 'easy' and 'fast' methods. Hardly any mention of any logic. Then, one day, I struck gold! I stumbled upon a Ted-ed video. 'how to solve Rubik's cube with math.' It was a light bulb moment and it just clicked. For the next few days, I got down to work. I came up with my own set of moves Based on pure intuition and logic. Finally I SOLVED IT! Now I could tell EXACTLY why I made turn. I'm not the fastest solver out there, And it's definitely not an easy task. But, it’s truly satisfying. Below is a glimpse of what it feels like. It’s not a tutorial by any means Just to show the experience. During the First World War, the Germans were the first to implement a formal sniping program, which inflicted severe casualties on Entente troops. In response, in 1915 the British Army organized its own sniper program. However, the British optics industry could not keep up with demand for proper riflescopes, so as a stopgap measure the Army adopted a variety of tubeless "optical" or "Galilean" sights that could be quickly and cheaply manufactured and fitted on rifles. Five different models were adopted or approved for private purchase: the Martin, the Lattey, the Ulster, the BSA, and the Gibbs. However, the sights saw little combat use and were replaced by proper telescopic sights by 1917. The Nobel Prize in physics in 2022 went to scientists who, for over 40 years, have carried out a series of experiments indicating that, contrary to materialist expectations, physical entities do not have standalone existence but are, in fact, products of observation. This result is extraordinarily relevant to our understanding of the nature of reality, and so Essentia Foundation, in collaboration with the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information, Vienna, of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (home to Prof. Anton Zeilinger, one of 2022's Nobel Laureates in physics), organized a conference discussing the implications of this result. The conference was hosted by IQOQI-Vienna’s Dr. Markus Müller and featured seven other speakers. This video is the record of the Q&A session at the end of the conference's second and last day. The participants discuss whether there are objective physical laws out there in nature, whether the double-slit and similar experiments capture the essence of quantum mechanics, whether the scientific method demands inter-subjective confirmation, and what constitutes an observing agent under Quantum Bayesianism. I'm going to completely restore it and bring it back to a like-new condition. Using some beautiful locally grown walnut wood, I aim to transform this school desk into a stunning piece of fine furniture that I can then sell. The profits from this sale will be used towards funding our next upcycling project from the thrift store. This engine is better in every way than a conventional engine. It’s more efficient, it makes more power and it even has much better balance. First, the efficiency. The connecting rod in a conventional engine is at an angle when combustion occurs. Of the four strokes combustion is the one where by far the highest loads are placed on the engine. The fact that the rod is angled during combustion means that the load placed on it is trying to flip the rod. As the rod tries to do this it actually ends up pushing the piston into the cylinder wall. This increases friction and friction is wasted energy which means that efficiency is reduced as less of the energy created by combustion is actually turned into useful work. The other problem is that this increased friction also increases wear. This angle of the rod is the reason why one side of a cylinder wears more than the other over many miles. Next up, power. How can a different rotating assembly increase power? It can do this by giving the engine more time to harness the energy created by combustion. This of course also positively contributes to efficiency but at high rpm when the window for harnessing combustion energy becomes very small, buying some time leads to higher power output. How does the rotating assembly buy time? By preventing the rod from pulling the piston down. Now our unconventional engine has a name and it’s called is a scotch yoke engine. A scotch yoke is simply an alternative way of turning rotation into reciprocation and it is not a novel concept at all. It has been employed many times in the past in steam and hot air engines. In the 1920 a gentleman by the name of Ruseel Bourke attempted to improve two stroke engines by empliyng a scotch yoke design and although he built a few working examples, his design was never commercialized. This brings us to the elephant in the room. If this design has sooo many benefits and is much better than a conventional engine then why do all of our vehicles, land, sea and air, use a conventional engine instead of the allegedly much better scotch yoke design. But the actual key reason why this engine is not in every vehicle is that this design has an inherent weakness and if you observe it for a bit it quickly becomes obvious where the weakness is…and yes you guessed it. It’s the rod. It’s always the rod. This giant slot that we made in the rod in order to gain all these benefits has done two things. First of all it has made the rod weak and second it has created potential for friction problems. However, material science and engineering as well as machining have made leaps and bounds in the last few decades and may now be in the position to offer solutions to the inherent problems of the scotch yoke engines. And this brings us to Alfadan. As some of you may know, I made a video about a novel engine design two years ago. The company behind this engine is called Alfadan and according to their patent the engine they want to bring to market is an inline four with a scotch yoke design. The video I made got many views for some reason and I still get a lot of questions in my comments asking about updates. The game in question was Exidy's Death Race, and the newspapers, as you can imagine, had an absolute riot. 🔗Video Links🔗 🏆 Support 🏆 Support my channel, get exclusive videos & perks, as well as an ad and sponsor free experience at https://www.patreon.com/nostalgianerd from just $1 🏪 NN Shop & Affiliate Links! 🏪 My eBay Shop: https://nnerd.es/NerdShop (Now Re-open!) The Peasant's Revolt began in the 1340s after The Black Death had swept through England, killing between a third and half of the population. The huge death toll led to a severe shortage of labour and agricultural workers were in a position to demand better treatment and higher wages from their landlords. Resentment among the workers was simmering when, between 1377 and 1381, a number of taxes were levied to finance government spending. This prompted a violent rebellion known as the Peasants' Revolt. A large group of commoners rode on London, storming the Tower of London and demanding reforms from the young King Richard II. Welcome to Chronicle; your home for all things medieval history! Eugène Delacroix was a French Romantic artist regarded from the outset of his career as the leader of the French Romantic school. Delacroix took for his inspiration the art of Rubens and painters of the Venetian Renaissance, with an attendant emphasis on colour and movement rather than clarity of outline and carefully modelled form.
