De corrupte ambtenaar Jim B. zwijgt in zijn strafzaak over de verdenkingen van corruptie en het doorverkopen van informatie aan criminele afnemers. De man zou tientallen keren informatie uit de systemen van de gemeente hebben gehaald en tegen betaling hebben doorverkocht. Er volgden 95 geweldsincidenten, zoals explosies, kogelbrieven, beschietingen en een ontvoering. Het onderzoek naar B. start in februari 2025 als informatie uit een ander onderzoek in zijn richting wijst. In december 2024 zijn in Leiden, Sassenheim, Voorhout en Amsterdam explosies, gericht op één persoon. "Maar hoe komen de plegers aan deze adressen", vraagt de rechter zich hardop af. Er zou een lijst rondgaan van hem en zijn familie, en die zou kort daarvoor zijn opgevraagd door een account van Jim B. bij de gemeente Amsterdam. Informatiemakelaar  Jim B. werkte als ambtenaar voor de gemeente bij de afdeling incasso en invordering. Hierdoor had hij toegang tot diverse systemen en informatie over inwoners. De verdachte speelde van bijna 500 mensen gegevens door aan informatiemakelaars Rishie K. en Gillian H. Het leverde B. vijftig euro per bevraging op. De mannen communiceerden via 'privnote', een applicatie die berichten na het versturen automatisch verwijderd. Hoewel Jim B. eerder wel verklaringen heeft afgelegd bij de politie, geeft hij vandaag geen antwoorden op vragen van de rechtbank. Familieleden en hijzelf zouden telefonisch en op straat bedreigd worden. B. gaf in een eerdere verklaring aan onder druk te hebben gehandeld. Bijvoorbeeld toen hem werd gevraagd te zoeken op de naam Taghi. "Weet je wat ik op het spel zet, dat wordt aardig zoekwerk en dan gaan de lampen branden hier op het werk." Ook deed hij meerdere bevragingen na werktijd. Volgens hem, omdat hij een 'harde werker' was. Wanneer hem vandaag door de rechter wordt gevraagd of hij de ernst van zijn corrupte handelen inziet, zegt hij dat te begrijpen.  Explosie binnen 2,5 uur Net als B. zwijgen ook de informatiemakelaars grotendeels, een van hen, Rishie K. verklaart wel dat hij niet wist waar de gegevens voor gebruikt werden. "Hij vertelde dat hij adresgegevens nodig had omdat klanten waren weggereden zonder te betalen", aldus K.  Alle verdachten zeggen dus niets te weten over wat er met de informatie gebeurde, maar feit is dat zelfs binnen 2,5 uur na zo'n bevraging in de systemen van de gemeente al een explosie plaatsvond. Voor de strafzaak zijn vijf dagen uitgetrokken, maandag gaat de zaak verder en krijgen de slachtoffers het woord. More specifically, the film tells the emotional story of a family impacted by drunk driving. A woman and her husband share the story of the tragic loss of their son, nephew, and brother-in-law due to a head-on collision caused by a drunk driver. The driver was only convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to one year in prison. The film highlights the societal normalization of drinking and driving, the weak enforcement of laws, and the community’s reaction. It also discusses efforts to change public attitudes toward drunk driving, as a local group in Ithaca, New York, called Park It, works to raise awareness and address the issue through legal action and education. Er is een nieuwe golf aan Russen die naar Armenië emigreren. Bij de vorige mobilisatie in 2022 was er een piek in het aantal Russen dat naar Armenië trok. Daarna was het lange tijd rustig, maar dit jaar is het migratiesaldo al hoger dan bij de vorige mobilisatie.   Armenië is een land waarvoor Russen geen paspoort of visum nodig hebben en waar - door het gedeelde Sovjetverleden - een groot deel van de bevolking vloeiend Russisch spreekt. Scientists are using thunderquakes to see what’s hidden underground… When lightning strikes, it heats up the air around it, creating a shockwave that you hear as thunder. When that energy hits the ground, some of it turns into seismic ripples in the dirt and rock… These ripples penetrate the surface, so to listen to them, scientists used buried internet cables. By recording lots of thunderquake ripples, they can X-ray the earth! And they’re trying to use this idea to see below the surface of other planets. Bewoners van huurwoningen in de Van Gilsestraat en de Burgemeester Eliasstraat in Slotermeer gingen vanmiddag naar het hoofdkantoor van verhuurder Eigen Haard om verhaal te halen. Bewoners van 21 woningen in de twee straten zeggen al jaren last te hebben van schimmel in hun woning, en ze zouden daarvoor al vaker hebben aangeklopt bij Eigen Haard. Een van de bewoners zegt al sinds 1999 met een zwarte schimmelmuur te zitten. 'De enige schimmel die ik wil, heet Ozosnel', zegt Sjerp van Wouden, verwijzend naar het paard van Sinterklaas. Van Wouden is er vandaag bij namens de SP. Hij neemt de bewoners op sleeptouw. Samen hebben ze een zogenoemd zwartboek gemaakt, waarin foto's en verhalen staan van de bewoners die last hebben van de schimmel. Ze gaan dat aanbieden bij het hoofdkantoor van Eigen Haard. Een bezoek dat ze van tevoren hebben aangekondigd. Eenmaal binnen neemt Van Wouden het woord. Hij hoopt op duidelijke afspraken, zegt hij tegen Annelinda van Dijck-van Eck. Zij is directeur Buurten & Vastgoedsturing bij Eigen Haard. "Dit betekent dat er iets niet goed gaat", zegt ze na het aanhoren van alle verhalen. "Dit is echt niet waar we voor staan. U moet gewoon in een goede woning kunnen wonen." Samen spreken ze af dat Eigen Haard eind dit jaar met een plan komt om de problemen op te lossen. Ook belooft Eigen Haard dan een uitnodiging te sturen naar de buurtbewoners om het over de toekomst van de buurt te hebben. Van Wouden zegt blij te zijn met de afspraken. "Na jaren van gesteggel zijn we actie gaan voeren en we hebben binnengehaald wat we wilden: meteen onderhoud ter bevordering van de gezondheid en voor het einde van het jaar een plan. Klasse apart."Een introductie behoeft de 88-jarige Sjaak Swart niet: met 603 wedstrijden en 228 goals op zijn naam is hij niks minder dan een clubicoon. De supportersvereniging vond het dan ook hoog tijd om hem te eren. Zo is hij benoemd tot erelid en draagt het balkon van waaruit hij vele wedstrijden kijkt vanaf nu zijn naam. AT5 nam samen met hem een kijkje bij het Sjaak Swart-balkon. "Ik sta hier altijd: als er iets te doen is, sta ik hier op mijn plekkie. Gewoon wedstrijdjes kijken." Swart blaakt van trots op het moment dat hij op zijn eigen balkon staat. "Wie krijgt dat voor elkaar? Klasse apart." Ook voor de nieuwe trainer van Ajax Míchel Sánchez is Swart geen onbekende meer.
