How does music theory change if we had 31 notes instead of 12? Lets figure that out by reconstructing the interval that has been lost to history, the Diesis! The Diesis, or 5th tone is a very small interval that divides the whole tone into 5 evenly spaced notes. The diesis step in what helps us form the chromatic scale of 31 tone equal temperament. In this video we dive into some of the history behind the diesis, from the music writings of Plutarch, Aristotle, and Ptolemy, to the music writings of St. Thomas Aquinas & Johannes Tinctoris . 31 EDO is such a wonderful microtonal and xenharmonic tuning system that allows us to create hauntingly beautiful chords, buzzy, dreamlike harmony and chords of new colors, like the septimal/subminor chord, the supermajor chord, and the neutral chord. These microtonal chords gives us so much freedom when it comes to building unique harmony, microtonal chord progressions, and unique xenharmonic music. I hope this microtonal music lesson gives you the tools to allow you to easily start making microtonal and xenharmonic music for yourself. Find me on TikTok, and Instagram. Here's how to play a finger pattern that every guitarist should know. It's one of the 5 basic scale shapes. The C shape major scale pattern. As you can hear, it's not necessarily the scale of C major. The name comes from the fact that the common C chord shape is hidden within it. But the whole pattern can be moved up and down the fingerboard to play major scales in different keys. #classicalguitarshed #guitar #classicalguitar #music #guitartips #guitarlife #guitarlove #learnguitar #guitarplayer #dontfret #guitarmastery #easyguitar #Cshapescalepattern #5basicscales #CAGEDscales #guitarscales #practice

The Burning Archive offers each week calm reflections on how to use history and world culture to make sense of the crisis we are all living through, and all doing our best to stay sane in. In this episode I share insights on: 1. Major geopolitical event - The Tragedy of the War in Ukraine one year on, through the eyes of Stephen Walt's article in Foreign Policy magazine, "The Conversation About Ukraine Is Cracking Apart " 2. A historical comparison - The periods of history in Ukraine and Poland known as 'The Ruin" and 'The Deluge in the 17th and 18th centuries 3. A fragment from the Burning Archive, the cultural heritage of the multipolar world - the 1917 essay on nationalism by Bengali writer, Rabindranath Tagore, and how it illuminates the conflicts with the West today. In the show, I discuss the work of three winners of the Nobel Prize for Literature - have you heard of them all? It was a major catastrophe in human history when the Roman seaport of Pompeii was buried under the ashes of the Vesuvius volcano and became world famous for its downfall. But that is also the starting point for a little-known story: the reconstruction of the region and the crisis management of the Roman emperors, among both economic recovery and criminal enrichment. A story of extreme modernity, from which we still can learn today how to deal with natural disasters. -- Welcome to the official Get.factual youtube channel! 🌍 We are a documentary streaming channel covering history, science, technology, and nature. Designed by Bertrand Goldberg in the mid 1960s, the structures were the tallest concrete structures in the world at the time of construction. More than that though, the design fundamentally questioned how people might live in the city. It was also the first mixed-use development to include commercial and residential together. In this video, we explore Marina City for both it's design and the impact it's had on the development of Chicago. __Membership__ Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYAm24PkejQR2xMgJgn7xwg/join __About the Channel__ Architecture with Stewart is a YouTube journey exploring architecture’s deep and enduring stories in all their bewildering glory. One of Ireland's most sacred sites is where St Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, set up his first church. On Cathedral Hill sits a magnificent church renovated from its medieval origins in the 18th century. the team look for the early monastic buildings where according to legend St. Patrick built a monastery and was buried. They are also digging up medieval finds, including roof tiles and glass, which indicate a high-status building. They soon identify the large double ditch which originally enclosed the monastery complex. A fascinating trip for the team as they traveled to Downpatrick in Northern Ireland to excavate one of Britain's most important religious sites. Stanhope viewers are a type of single-lens microscope designed for viewing microphotographs. They were extremely popular in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries and were incorporated into a variety of consumer goods, including jewelry, pens, and tourist trinkets. In this episode, I discuss the history of microphotography and Stanhope viewers and examine an 1890s example courtesy of the Dalnavert Museum in Winnipeg. Back in the 1960s, the historian Lynn White Jr. blamed Christianity for the climate crises of the 20th century. More recently, many religious leaders have published eco-friendly versions of their theology. But is it helping? Can religion be good for the environment? Here's how to play a finger pattern that every guitarist should know. It's one of the 5 basic scale shapes. The E shape major scale pattern. It's not necessarily the scale of E major. The name comes from the fact that the common E chord shape is hidden within it. But the whole pattern can be moved up and down the fingerboard to play major scales in different keys. Put this in your practice routine to increase speed and finger independence. And play around with it to take your improvisation skills to a new level. #classicalguitarshed #guitar #classicalguitar #music #guitartips #guitarlife #guitarlove #learnguitar #guitarplayer #dontfret #guitarmastery #easyguitar #Eshapescalepattern #5basicscales #CAGEDscales #guitarscales
