Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong made a speech on the Indo-Pacific and the history of Australian foreign policy in January 2023. It caused some controversty with comments on British colonialism, but did it toady up to American imperialism? It talked about the 'geographic realities of the Indo-Pacific" but did it make sense in the changing geopolitics of the multipolar world. It had some big quotes from history and poetry, but was it a good speech. Find out answers to all these questions in this reaction video, that gives fresh insight to the role of Australia in a changing multipolar world.
Jimmy Carter was one of America's best presidents. This speech given in 2015 predicted the future. President Carter knew the BRICS nations would rise, China would rise, Russia would rise, and also called out America to improve as a world superpower and be a champion of peace and generosity. The team hope to find the home of the Knights Templar, a major power in the 12th and 13th-centuries who protected pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land. Templecombe in Somerset is the site of a priory, home to an order of fighting monks, that dates back to the 12th-century. The exact location of the original building has been confused by later construction. The Time Team set themselves the task of untangling the ruins and coming to grips with the history of the location. Welcome to Chronicle; your home for all things medieval history! Disaster struck Turkey and Syria this month when a devastating earthquake caused over 48,000 deaths, with the toll still climbing. The Turkish government’s emergency response has been heavily criticised, with many arguing that the devastating number of casualties has a lot to do with rampant corruption and authoritarianism of Erdogan’s regime – widespread graft in the construction industry leading to unsafe buildings, political appointees with no expertise leading chaotic relief operations, and the gutting of civil society organisations hampering humanitarian efforts in Kurdish areas in particular. With all this happening just months before a crucial presidential election, what’s the outlook for Turkey, and what should European progressives' take on it be? The Manx Gaelic language died in 1974, together with its last native speaker, 97-years-old fisherman Ned Maddrell. At least, that is what UNESCO believed when they declared the language extinct in 2009. Until a letter, written in perfect Manx by primary school children, reached UNESCO headquarters: dozens of kids from the Isle of Man were asking the organisation to reverse its decision. This prompted UNESCO to create a new category: revitalised languages. Here’s how a movement anchored in education and music brought a language back from the dead. **ERRATUM** While our team had multiple sources confirming Brian Stowell was responsible for the recordings, we were contacted by Mr Stowell's daughter who gave us more insight into the revitalisation movement. Rather than Mr Stowell, it's the Irish Folklore Commission (IFC) and representative Kevin Danaher that, in 1948 and with the help of other activists, recorded conversations and hymn readings by over a dozen native speakers Chapters: 00:00 - 00:46 Intro 00:46 - 01:19 What is the Isle of Man? 01:19 - 03:04 A record-setting primary school 03:04 - 04:10 Children become teachers 04:10 - 04:50 Basics of Manx Gaelic 04:50 - 05:51 A pub for Manx speakers 05:51 - 06:40 UNESCO's mistake 06:40 - 08:40 Music matters --------------------------------------------------------------------- There are more than 7,000 languages in the world, and around 40% of them are disappearing. Who doesn’t know the fairy tales of the Grimm Brothers? But where do their stories have their origins and what forms their true cores? The wolf in ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ symbolises evil people. In the fairy tale ‘The Willow Wren’, the feathered animals beat the fur bearers, while ‘Mother Holle’ rules over more than just the snow. Nature inspired the brothers to collect and tell their stories. -- Welcome to the official Get.factual youtube channel! 🌍 We are a documentary streaming channel covering history, science, technology, and nature. ClassicalGuitarShed.com can help you on the journey. If you want to rise to new levels in your playing, it just takes time and strategic work. To play classical guitar well, you need to know: * how to hold and touch the guitar - form and positioning * how to move your fingers and hands - efficient, clean, and fluid * how to learn pieces - reading music, understanding what you see, ingraining, polishing * how to craft the music so it is beautiful - swells and fades, rhythm, touch * how to practice so all these skills improve over time and don't go away At the root of beautiful playing is a solid technique (aka “the way your hands move”). You may have beautiful music in your head, but if your hands can't play it, it won't come out of the guitar. But bad technique puts a limit on your playing. Speed, tone quality, and control can suffer. Good technique gets stronger and more instinctive with every practice. It forms the bedrock foundation for your music. And you may want to understand music so you learn it more easily and it makes more sense. This can help you avoid the excess frustration and dismay that comes with shoddy practice and prolonged confusion. But playing the notes is not enough. Like an actor bring words to life, we breathe life into our pieces. And we can do this in an organized way, day in and day out, reliably. Great musicians can play wonderfully in any mood. They do not rely on emotions. Instead, they create music that affects our emotions. This is a trained skill, not an inborn talent. Playing classical guitar is a long-term study. It's something we do in our homes as part of our days. We play for ourselves, for the quality it adds to life. We may enjoy playing guitar for others, but most of the time we are alone with our work. There are methods and formulas for great practice. We can use our time well so that see more progress. We can fix the problems and erase the mistakes. And we can enjoy conquering the plentiful challenges that classical guitar music offers. If you plan to play classical guitar for any length of time, it is worth it to get help. It's not something we can do on our own, like folk music. I have a structured and organized course to help you play classical guitar. If you like, you can learn more here: https://classicalguitarshed.com/membership/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=Sor_Etude_Op_6_No_11_Free_Classical_Guitar_Sheet_Music&utm_content=Jij_7C85RTo If you would like to hear me (Allen Mathews) playing, visit my other youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/allenmathews/

Go to https://brilliant.org/JamesBruton/ to get a 30 day free trial + the first 200 people will get 20% off their annual subscription. This is version 2 of my omni-directional tank. The tank is omni-directional. That means it can move forwards, backwards, and left and right, or diagonally, or any combination out of 360 degrees. It can also turn on the spot. Each track has little wheels mounted in each segment which allows them to slide sideways. This is really similar to other omni-directional robots I’ve built which use various types of omni directional wheels. This seemed like it worked well, but it was really bad at climbing over things, which is what tanks are generally supposed to be good at. Two tracks at an angle like that just slipped on the edge of most objects and it couldn’t get traction. Also, as the front of the tank was lifted up, the back edge was pivoted off the ground, which didn’t have any drive in that direction anyway. The main suggestions to improve this from the comments on the original video were to make the track style a trapezoidal shape like a traditional tank, and also to have each section able to pivot so each track can comply with the terrain. Also at least one person suggested moving the little wheels in each track segment to the outside of the tracks so that they can help grip better on the corners as the track approaches objects. We all know him, we all love him: Baloo – Mowgli’s constant companion from the Jungle Book. Did you know that the role models for Baloo are the sloth bears of India? Surprisingly, not much is known about this secretive species. They are mostly nocturnal animals and very shy. Over a period of three years and in more than 200 days in the field, Oliver Goetzl and Ivo Nörenberg not only were lucky enough to film these elusive creatures at daytime, but got also behaviour that was even not known to scientists so far, like the mouth feeding of cubs by their mothers. -- Welcome to the official Get.factual youtube channel! 🌍 We are a documentary streaming channel covering history, science, technology, and nature. Sir Winston Churchill described the vote as an 'abject, squalid, shameless, avowel', citing it as a reason for Adolf Hitler's later brinkmanship. Ninety years to the day after this motion was first put to the House, would this house still not fight for its sovereign and kingdom? ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.

Here are some tips to eliminate bass string squeak when you shift positions on your guitar. Release your finger slightly off the string first, move it, and then put it back down again. You can also imagine you are releasing the finger backwards, towards the nut. And remember, the higher-sounding strings don't squeak as much, so you can leave a guide finger on them. You'll get a more musical sound. And less scratch. #classicalguitarshed #guitar #classicalguitar #music #guitartips #guitarlife #guitarlove #learnguitar #guitarplayer #dontfret #guitarmastery #easyguitar #nosqueak #bassscratch #noscratch #nosqueakbass #playmusically
