Tijd voor een nieuw Ommetje! In deze zesde Ommetje met Tom x FanClub Centrum podcast lopen we van de Sint Luciënsteeg naar de Dam. En als je denkt: ‘hey, dat is een klein stukje’, dat klopt, maar er is ook zó veel te zien en te vertellen! We trappen af in de Sint Luciënsteeg bij het Amsterdam Museum (die nu vanwege een verbouwing tijdelijk in de Hermitage zit). Hier hangen een heleboel gevelstenen aan de muur, die zijn ‘gered’ van huizen die gesloopt zijn. Van goudsmit tot tandarts: ze hangen er allemaal. Zeker de moeite waard om even stil te staan en goed te kijken. Dan door naar de Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, waar Tom vertelt over de belangrijke functie die dit gebied vroeger had, hier werden namelijk de kranten gedrukt. Zo ook in het Telegraafgebouw, waar ook een aantal bijzondere beelden op de toren staan. Toen het op een gegeven moment te druk werd in de stad, vertrokken de redacties en drukkerijen naar plekken buiten het centrum. Wat echter niet is veranderd, is de postzegelmarkt, die nog altijd elke zaterdagochtend in deze straat plaatsvindt. Waarom? Dat hoor je in de podcast. Ook vind je hier andere leuke bezienswaardigheden zoals het oude houten politiehuisje en de ‘peperbus’. Dan achterlangs het paleis door naar de Graven- en Eggertsstraat, waar Tom en Josephine eerst nog even stuiten op de moderne versie van een piskrul. In de Gravenstraat vertelt Tom over proeflokaal de Drie Flesjes, waar het altijd gezellig is én het woord ‘drankorgel’ vandaan komt. Wanneer we doorlopen via de Eggerstraat, zien we vanuit de steeg het Paleis op de Dam weer, vanuit een hoek waarop je ’t paleis niet vaak ziet. Daarna lopen we door naar de Dam, dat misschien wel veel internationaler is dan dat je denkt… Ook het verhaal over de kerstboom, die er elk jaar van half december tot begin januari staat, mag niet ontbreken. We eindigen de tocht met het Paleis, waarbij het – zoals je inmiddels wel gewend bent – heel belangrijk is om omhoog te kijken. Op het dak staan verschillende beelden, met onder andere een vrouwelijk figuur die in haar ene hand de staf van Mercurius vast houdt en in haar andere hand een olijftak. Dit symboliseert dat je in vrede moet handelen. Een mooie boodschap om 2023 mee in te luiden lijkt ons. Wij zijn FC Centrum, een FanClub voor onze oude binnenstad. They do not rely on emotions. Instead, they create music that affects our emotions. This is a trained skill, not an inborn talent. Playing classical guitar is a long-term study. It's something we do in our homes as part of our days. We play for ourselves, for the quality it adds to life. We may enjoy playing guitar for others, but most of the time we are alone with our work. There are methods and formulas for great practice. We can use our time well so that see more progress. We can fix the problems and erase the mistakes. And we can enjoy conquering the plentiful challenges that classical guitar music offers. If you plan to play classical guitar for any length of time, it is worth it to get help.
