The deal paves the way for Saudi civil nuclear development, although critics warn that it could lead to the proliferation of nuclear weapons in the politically volatile Middle East. Saudi Arabia has long maintained that it would not officially recognize Israel by joining the Abraham Accords, the U.S.-negotiated diplomatic deal between Israel and a number of Arab states, until there is a pathway toward the creation of a Palestinian state. The Abraham Accords provision indicates that "Israel is calling the shots again," when it comes to U.S. policy in the Middle East, notes Daniel Levy of the U.S./Middle East Project. Levy says it is unlikely that Saudi Arabia will agree to Trump's new conditions, at a cost to U.S. business interests, which stand to profit handily from the sale of nuclear energy technology to the oil-rich kingdom. Alex Shelnutt has been the drummer for A Day To Remember since 2006, helping shape the band's signature blend of pop punk and metalcore on landmark albums like Homesick, What Separates Me From You, and Common Courtesy. In this Drumeo session, Alex performs songs from throughout the band's career while sharing the stories behind each era, his approach to drumming, and how his playing has evolved over nearly two decades with the band. From explosive double bass grooves to melodic pop-punk beats and iconic fills, Alex breaks down the techniques and musical decisions that have defined A Day To Remember's sound. Along the way, he reflects on joining the band, recording some of their biggest records, and what it's taken to keep the band going strong for nearly 20 years. #ggz #autonomiebevorderendbeleid #psychischeklachten #Nieuwsuur

Sophia Rosenfeld’s The Age of Choice: A History of Freedom in Modern Life, will change how you think about modernity, modern love and identity politics. Rosenfeld’s innovative argument shows the chosen identities of modern life sprang, not only from the philosophes of the Enlightenment or the industrialists of dark satanic mills, but from the waltzes and dance games of the nineteenth century ballroom. They made our manners of choosing romantic partners. DiEM25’s Coordinating Collective member Ivana Nenadović joined DiEM25 at its founding in 2016 and helped establish the Belgrade local collective only months later. From the beginning, its members brought a distinctly Serbian and non-EU perspective to the movement: Europe should not be a cartel that exploits its periphery, but a union of equal nations. In this DiEM25 Academy interview, Ivana reflects on nearly a decade of building the movement from Belgrade. She explains why the first Academy was organised there in 2018, how it created connections between activists from EU and non-EU countries, and why meeting face to face remains essential for building trust, solidarity and campaigns across borders. She also discusses what DiEMers can learn from Serbia’s student movement, whose organisers built support from the ground up by occupying universities, involving professors and remaining focused over time. For Ivana, international politics only becomes meaningful when it is translated into local action. That means choosing an issue people can organise around, working with groups already active in the community and committing to the struggle for longer than a few weeks. “There is no DiEM25 as an abstract thing. We are DiEM25.” No movement will arrive from elsewhere to solve the problems in our cities. DiEM25 can offer analysis, structures, international connections and support—but local political power must be built by the people who live there. Help us preserve, scan and post more rare and endangered films on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/PeriscopeFilm Dating to 1954, "Israel Land Reborn", was directed by A Tyler Hull. It was made under the sponsorship of the American Christian Palestine Committee, a Christian group dedicated to promoting peace in the Holy Land. The film provides a comprehensive overview of Israel’s development following its independence in 1948. Jerusalem, historically a city of peace, was divided between Israel and Jordan after the war, while the nation rapidly grew politically, culturally, and economically. Cities like Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Nazareth expanded, supporting a diverse population of immigrants from Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Agriculture, land reclamation, and water management transformed previously barren regions like the Negev and the Hula swamp into farmland, while industrialization and education empowered citizens, including previously unskilled immigrants. Health care systems, scientific research, and cultural institutions strengthened the nation, and Israel’s exports in agriculture, manufactured goods, and minerals connected it to global markets. The new nation is portrayed as a vibrant, resilient democracy turning the challenges of war, immigration, and arid land into opportunities for growth and prosperity. 0:00 – Jerusalem, historically the city of peace, bears the scars of the 1948 war following the UN’s partition of Palestine, which Arab nations rejected. Israel declared independence on May 14, 1948, and successfully defended itself against five Arab armies. By 1951, Israel joined the UN and gained global recognition, while Jerusalem remained divided between Israel and Jordan, with a no-man’s land between the two areas. 1:40 – Jerusalem is Israel’s capital and cultural center. Tourism thrives in hotels like the King David. Reforestation and land reclamation efforts restore previously barren hills. 3:09 – Jaffa, Tel Aviv, and Haifa grow rapidly with new housing for immigrants and industrial expansion. Haifa serves as a busy port with trade in exports like citrus and manufactured goods. 4:37 – Nazareth retains religious sites such as the Church of the Enunciation and Mary’s Well. Arab communities maintain traditional practices while peacefully coexisting with Jewish populations. 5:09 – The Sea of Galilee is central to Israel’s spiritual history, linked to Jesus’ ministry. Historical sites like Capernaum and the birthplace of John the Baptist are maintained and studied archaeologically. 6:14 – A diverse state including Jews, Druze, and Arabs (both Muslim and Christian). Religious freedom is emphasized. Muslims follow traditional prayer practices. 7:48 – Israel’s population includes immigrants from Europe, North Africa, and Yemen, integrating newcomers into modern society. 9:44 – Fostering a shared national identity among diverse cultural groups. 10:15 – Education is a national priority, technological training supports Israel’s industrial growth. 11:56 – Health initiatives address challenges brought by immigrant populations, providing public health services, disease control, and polio therapy. Organizations like Hadassah contribute significantly to medical care. 12:40 – Industrialization is vital for economic stability. 15:01 – Settlements near factories support workers, while the cement industry expands for domestic construction and export. American investment supports infrastructure, including ports in Haifa. . 17:01 – Israel’s fishing industry is modernized, while desert areas are irrigated to support agriculture. Immigrant housing begins as temporary huts, gradually replaced by permanent settlements, and newcomers adapt to farming and land reclamation. 18:14 – Many agricultural pioneers are Jewish youth rescued from Europe by Youth Aliyah. 20:03 – Arab agricultural practices continue traditionally but are increasingly modernized. Rivers and swamps are reclaimed. 23:19 – Towns like Beersheba develop into modern centers. Bedouin communities settle due to improved water access, while agricultural methods become more efficient to maximize production in a small land. 24:32 – The Negev desert, once considered barren, is now being developed through irrigation, mining, and infrastructure projects. Minerals like iron, copper, and phosphates are extracted, and oil exploration is ongoing. Israel serves as a model for transforming arid regions into productive land. 26:20 – By utilizing water from the north, deserts may be turned into fertile lands, fulfilling biblical prophecy and creating opportunities for agriculture, settlement, and peaceful development. Green card holder Salah Sarsour is a Palestinian community leader in Milwaukee who was recently released from an ICE jail after 80 days of detention, but he still faces the risk of deportation. Sarsour's lawyers say he is being targeted by the federal government over his advocacy for Palestinian human rights. Sarsour says his time in detention brought back "bad memories" from his childhood living under Israeli occupation in the West Bank, including when he spent years in an Israeli prison.

President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have confirmed they will not block the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate to the UK, where they face 59 serious charges, including sexual assault and sex trafficking. The decision is a significant setback for the Tate brothers, as they rely on the argument that the charges against them are politically motivated to secure U.S. intervention. Joseph McBride, the attorney for the brothers, has been actively portraying them as political prisoners, making a direct appeal for the President’s empathy. The situation has sparked intense debate among conservatives regarding the movement's association with the Tates. While Andrew Tate maintains a vocal following and strong support for Donald Trump, his public profile - including his history of provocative statements - has left many questioning whether the movement’s values are being compromised. Is the Tate case truly a form of "lawfare," or are these serious criminal allegations that must be allowed to play out in court? Piers Morgan speaks to Matt Jury, the lawyer representing the alleged victims in the UK, before examining the implications of this extradition for the conservative right and the wider questions of principle vs. political alliance with Michael Knowles, Adam Sosnick and Pearl Davis.
