this was definitely the hardest thing we have ever done. In this video we geared up and attempted to push through the pulverizer squeeze and send it to the outer reaches of the cave known as tobacco road. This is where the cave gets wild!
During the 14th century, the bubonic plague ripped through Medieval Europe, killing over a third of the population of Britain. For the everyday medieval family, the epidemic was a ruthless terror for decades. So far, the only evidence of the dead in England is from London, but the team have come across some mysterious skeletons in a pit in Tadcaster, Yorkshire, that point towards a plague burial. What can the skeleton of one woman tell us about life during the worst epidemic in history? Welcome to Chronicle; your home for all things medieval history! The conclusion to my HD-VMD story which started with this video https://youtu.be/07Z4iL8hy1A I've recently received a commercially released movie on a real VMD. This means I can now comment on the video quality as well as well as do some more detailed investigations to discover things such as the true video bitrate and the maximum capacity of a disc. FAQs Q) Did you try playing the VMD files in VLC? A) VLC WILL NOT PLAY THE FILES FROM THE VMD - THE VMD FILES MAKE VLC HANG. This is an identical result to that shown in part one https://youtu.be/07Z4iL8hy1A Since making the video I’ve examined the VMD files in a piece of software called MediaInfo and here are the results. Lucky Number Slevin MPEG2 13.4 Mb/s Variable Bit Rate 1920x1080 Interlaced 16:9 25fps So that’s the same as the bitrate I calculated manually. By comparison - the sharper looking Lazy Town disc give these results MPEG2 21.5 Mb/s Constant Bit Rate 1920x1080 Interlaced 16:9 25fps So what extra things does this tell us that I didn't already cover in the video? Well if MediaInfo is reporting this correctly the movie codec is MPEG2 not VC-1 and also the resolution is 1080i. --------------- SUBSCRIBE ------------------ http://www.youtube.com/user/Techmoan?sub_confirmation=1 ------------- Merchandise ----------------- https://teespring.com/stores/techmoan-merch ------------- SUPPORT --------------- This channel can be supported through Patreon https://www.patreon.com/techmoan *******Patrons usually have early access to videos******* ---------- Outro Music ----------- Over Time - Vibe Tracks https://youtu.be/VSSswVZSgJw ------ Outro Sound Effect ------ ThatSFXGuy - https://youtu.be/5M3-ZV5-QDM ------ AFFILIATED LINKS/ADVERTISING NOTICE ------- All links are Affiliated where possible. Subscribe to The Daily Upside! (Free Business & Finance Newsletter) https://bit.ly/2YQ4YIl A small London based crypto asset trading platform called DeversiFi got quite a shock two weeks ago when it mistakenly paid out a $24m fee to a large crypto miner. Transferring crypto deposits generates a fee, known in the industry as a “gas fee”, to compensate miners for the computing energy used to verify transactions on the blockchain. DeversiFi should have paid out around $5, but instead transferred 23.7 million dollars due to an error in their code. A few fat finger errors like this in the crypto space have made it into the press in recent months. Compound another DeFi project accidentally handed tokens worth $90m to its users and its owner threatened to report the recipients to the IRS before later backing down. Alchemix - another DeFi protocol forgave 4.8 million dollars of borrowers’ loans prematurely, essentially giving them free money. Once again, almost everyone returned the funds once the error was pointed out. Most modern trading software has built in controls to prevent huge fat finger mistakes from occurring. This protects both traders and brokerages from the losses that can come from these mistakes. In addition exchanges have rules in place to allow traders to request cancellation of fat finger errors. Most exchanges require you to request a cancellation within thirty minutes of the trades execution. So, for today’s video let’s look at some of the biggest fat finger mistakes in recent market history and see what lessons we can learn. Madrasana Tinge is one of a kind music festival - 5 concerts - 5 colours. Each concert has been given a colour and musicians will perform based on their interpretation of the colour with a pallavi and virutham composed by @vinayvaranasi This wonderful padyam has been specially composed by Vinay Varanasi, spanning across the five colours. The fifth part of the padyam showcases the colour yellow. Sri Peetambaradhari, Chinna krishna murari, Ni Mahima achintymura O muddula vada,Ni Mahima achintymura In this, Sri Krishna is described as dressed in yellow robes, the killer of Mura & the dear one who is great. The ragas chosen for these are Kanakangi and Kurunji, denoting the colour yellow. The 5 padyams are composed with two things in mind, so that they are not mere stand alone phrases in praise of the lord, but inspired by the approach of appreciating the lord in 5 fold ways. 1. The five colours are depicted in connection with Lord Vishnu/Sri Krishna 2. Upasana rahasyam. When defining the beauty or saundaryam of the lord, five aspects of divine beauty are to be considered Rupa tatva charita Guna mahima Rupa is form Tatva is essence Charita is journey Guna Is quality Mahima is mythical essence Each of the five padyams talk about one aspect of this beauty. Architecture can be funny. Of course, it often makes for a well-disposed butt of the joke, like when Frank Gehry is satirized on the Simpsons, but buildings themselves can be funny as well. Philosophers like Kant believed humor was in the incongruity between what is expected and what is experienced. There are all sorts of expectations placed on buildings and an infinite number of ways that incongruity might grow between those expectations and what a building actually delivers. This video explores some of the most interesting of these humorous buildings through history, from Giulio Romano’s Mannerism, to SITE Architects BEST stores, and many more. Finally, it points to some contemporary practices that deploy humor to achieve more than just a chuckle. __Membership__ Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYAm24PkejQR2xMgJgn7xwg/join __About the Channel__ Architecture with Stewart is a YouTube journey exploring architecture’s deep and enduring stories in all their bewildering glory. Perhaps the most famous battle in British history is the defeat at Hastings in 1066, when William the Conquerer's Norman forces took victory on the British south coast. Historian Dan Snow puts his walking boots on and sets off to see what the British landscape can teach us about this fascinating battle. From their violent arrival on these shores to their most sustaining legacies, Dan's trilogy of walks follow an evolutionary path through the Normans' era, from invasion to conquest, to successful rule and colonisation. PricewaterhouseCoopers earned over forty million dollars in fees auditing China Evergrande and signed off on the accounts presented to them by management for all of those years. PWC is likely to face criticism over the level of push back they gave to management over accounting policies that could have shown warning signs about the company’s financial health many years before the collapse. Around the world, auditors have faced criticism when companies have collapsed, and auditor negligence cases have become more common in recent years. In the UK The Financial Reporting Council has begun a probe into the accountancy firms that audited Greensill Capital and Wyelands Bank, a bank controlled by Sangeev Gupta which lent money to his other firms and is central to the Greensill scandal. NMC Health, Luckin Coffee and Wirecard are three recent financial scandals and one factor that they have in common, is that EY, through its affiliates in various countries, was the auditor for all three. A British high court ordered EY to pay a large settlement to a former partner in Dubai last year, for retaliating against him for blowing the whistle on an alleged money-laundering scheme by a client. These cases have dealt a series of heavy blows to EY’s credibility and integrity, even though EY has said it was unaware of longtime financial shenanigans by its clients and was duped along with everyone else. The quality of Evergrande’s assets is also likely be one of the main issues picked over if the lid is lifted by its creditors. Hey good people, This week I thought I'd bring you a bit of music theory that has more to do with the psychology of our brains than music itself. Why is scary music scary? Some insight to this questions answer may be gleaned by analyzing the acoustic signature of human screams, and comparing them to that of the average scary movie soundtrack. China’s crackdown on property developers threatens the London property market. Evergrande, the world’s most indebted developer, sparked fears across global markets as it missed a crucial interest deadline on its offshore debts. This week, another developer, Fantasia, defaulted on an offshore bond. A property consultant close to London’s development market was contacted in the wake of the Evergrande crisis by a UK regulator with concerns about the risks of contagion in London. “The big question is whether the Chinese will restrict investment overseas,” he said. “That would be a pretty big crisis in the UK and elsewhere.” Between 2013 and 2018, buyers from mainland China and Hong Kong poured close to £3.5bn into London, accounting for almost the entire flow of cross-border investment into the city’s land in 2017, according to Real Capital Analytics. Thousands of high-end flats bankrolled by Chinese developers lie unfinished and unsold in Central London as Chinese developers come under pressure from the “three red lines” that seek to curb excessive leverage across the Chinese property sector by limiting the amount property companies can borrow. Madrasana Tinge is one of a kind music festival - 5 concerts - 5 colours. Each concert has been given a colour and musicians will perform based on their interpretation of the colour with a pallavi and virutham composed by Vinay Varanasi. This wonderful padyam has been specially composed by Vinay Varanasi, spanning across the five colours. This padyam showcases the connection that all the colours selected for tinge share in connection to Vishnu/Sri Krishna. There is a binding element between the five verses of the padyam that will be revealed after the 5th verse. The fourth part of the padyam showcases the colour red. Ni kaustubhabharanamu, maaku shreyaskaramu Ni gunamulu anthamulenivi ra In this, Lord Vishnu is described as the one in possession of the Kaustubha ornament (a red colour gem which came out during the churning of the ocean) , the one who brings prosperity ocean(white) and whose qualities are endless. The ragam chosen for this is Mandari , a reference to the flower hibiscus , often red in colour. Follow the link below to buy the tickets. Although this will be a very detailed and long explanation I promise that it will be organic and easy to understand for everyone and I guarantee that if you pay attention, by the end of this video you will have the satisfaction of a newfound appreciation for the reciprocating piston engine. So let’s start from the basics. An inline twin or parallel twin cylinder engine is any engine where the there are two cylinders right next to each other in the same line using the same cylinder head. An inline twin can also be called a straight twin or a parallel twin engine because the two cylinders are in parallel. The only other two cylinder configurations are the V-twin and the flat twin. Unlike the inline twin both the v and the flat need two cylinder heads as the two cylinders are physically separated from each other. Now when it comes to the inline twin cylinder engine there are three widely used configurations. 360 degrees (most British bikes from the 1930s and onward such as the Norton Commando, BSA A65, Matchless, Triumph Bonneville, BMW F800GS, Kawasaki W800 and the Fiat Twin air engine ), 180 degrees(Most two cylinder Japanese bikes from the 60s including the Honda CB450, Suzuki GS400, Yamaha XS500, with modern examples being the Ninja 650 and the Yamaha R3 ) and finally 270 degrees (Honda Africa twin, Honda NC750, New Honda Rebel, Aprilia RS660, Tuono and Tuareg, BMW F900XR, All Triumph twins after 2016 like the street twin, street scrambler, bonneville, bonneville bobber, yamaha mt-07, yamaha r7, yamaha tenere, Royal Enfield continental GT and interceptor ). The degrees refer to the firing interval of the engine in crankshaft degrees. First up we have the 360 degree twin. In the case of this configuration the pistons move up and down together. So a cylinder fires, the engine rotates 360 degrees and then the other cylinder fires, again we rotate 360 degrees fire the first cylinder and so on. In other words the engine has an even fire interval and fires once every revolution. Next up we have the 180 degree twin. In this case we have 180 degrees of separation between the two crank pins. This of course means that when one piston is at TDC or top dead center the other piston will be at BDC or bottom dead center. And as the engine runs it looks like this. A cylinder fires, the engine rotates 180 degrees and then the other cylinder fires. Obviously because we’re talking about four stroke engines here when the second cylinder fires the first one is still the other is on the exhaust stroke which means that the first cylinder must complete exhaust and also do intake and compression before it can fire again. Each stroke is 180 degrees which means that the engine must rotate another 540 degrees before it can fire again. The result is that the firing interval is uneven and goes 180 540 180 540. Finally we have the 270 degree parallel twin. In this case there is 270 degrees or 90 degrees separation between the two crank pins, depending on how you look at it. The result is that one piston always trails the other by half a stroke or by 90 degrees or crankshaft rotation. When it comes to the firing interval of the 270 degree twin we have the following scenario: A cylinder fires, the engine rotates 270 degrees and then the other cylinder fires. When the second cylinder fires the first one will have completes half of its exhaust stroke which means that it has to complete the remaining half of the exhaust stroke and then do intake and compression which is 90 + 180 + 180 which equals 450 degrees. Meaning that the engine has to rotate another 450 degrees again before it can fire the first cylinder again. The end result is again an uneven firing interval of 270 450 270 450 270 450. This is the same as a v-twin which results in the 270 degree parallel twin having a similar soundtrack and character to a v twin.
