Dit weekend is er twee keer ingebroken bij de brandweerkazerne Zebra aan de IJdoornlaan in Noord. Er is twee keer een steen door de ruiten van de garagedeuren gegooid en de inbrekers hebben 'essentiële levensreddende goederen gestolen'. Volgens de politie kan er van geluk worden gesproken dat er geen oproep kwam waarbij deze goederen nodig waren. Een straatbeeld bij schemering toont een bakstenen gebouw met drie grote rode deuren, verlicht door buitenlampen. Langs een betegeld trottoir staan struiken en groeit hoog gras, en vlakbij staat een straatlantaarn. De lucht is gedeeltelijk bewolkt. Foto: Martin Damen Zondagochtend worden brandweerlieden op de kazerne wakker en merken ze op dat er goederen zijn gestolen in de nacht. Een raam van de garagedeur is ingegooid en dieven zijn via het gat naar binnengekropen. Ze nemen goederen mee die volgens de politie van essentieel belang zijn om levens te redden bij brand of ongelukken. De brandweerlieden hangen die dag een plank voor het gat en doen aangifte. Een nacht later is het opnieuw raak. Weer wordt er een raam ingegooid, nu het raam ernaast. De inbrekers gaan naar binnen via het gat en nemen opnieuw goederen mee. Twee jongens slaan vervolgens op de vlucht via de Ganzenveldstraat in de richting van de Beemsterstraat. Hydraulische spreider en schaar Bronnen melden aan AT5 dat onder andere een hydraulische spreider en hydraulische schaar zouden zijn meegenomen. Een woordvoerder van de politie kan dit niet bevestigen. Het is niet ondenkbaar dat zo'n spreider en schaar zijn meegenomen; RTL Nieuws meldde eerder al dat de stukken gereedschap populair zijn onder criminelen. Cijfers laten ook zien dat er landelijk een toename is aan inbraken bij brandweerkazernes. De speciale gereedschappen worden door de brandweer gebruikt om mensen en dieren te redden bij benarde situaties, zoals na bijvoorbeeld een ongeluk, een brand of een instorting. De spreider kan zware objecten uit elkaar duwen en de schaar kan door dik metaal knippen. Criminelen gebruiken het echter om rolluiken van onder andere juweliers en elektronicawinkels open te duwen en open te knippen. Dat gebeurde in januari bijvoorbeeld bij een winkel in Arnhem, zoals vorige week was te zien in het televisieprogramma Opsporing Verzocht. De spreider en schaar zijn voor de brandweer van belang in situaties waarin mensen vastzitten. De gereedschappen liggen klaar in de brandweerwagens, zodat ze dit niet nog hoeven te pakken als er een noodsituatie is. In beide gevallen lagen brandweerlieden te slapen op de kazerne tijdens hun dienst en stonden stand-by om uit te rukken. Volgens de politie kan er van geluk worden gesproken dat er beide nachten geen oproep kwam waarin gestolen goederen nodig waren. Politie zoekt getuigen De politie doet onderzoek naar de twee inbraken en vraagt getuigen die iets hebben gezien of gehoord of meer weten over de inbraken om zich te melden. Ook aan omwonenden met een videodeurbel of dashcam die van de periode voor, tijdens of na de inbraken beeld hebben om dit te delen. "Elke speler heeft zijn eigen generaal'', legt een Welshman met een draak op zijn hoed uit over een spelend groepje. "Hun doel is om de andere drie spelers uit te schakelen met hun generaal en leger.'' Sommige bezoekers noemen het 'een moeilijk spel', maar de Welshman houdt het simpel. "Dit is eigenlijk hoe het werkt." Cosplay Het verzamelspel heeft veel raakvlakken met het fantasygenre en roleplayinggames. Niet gek dus dat er vandaag vele uiteenlopende karakters te zien zijn. Republican politicians have been loath to acknowledge the role of the climate crisis in making extreme weather events like this more frequent and intense, instead blaming Canadian officials for poor forest management. President Donald Trump has even threatened to impose new tariffs on Canada over the record levels of hazardous air. Independent Canadian journalist Rachel Gilmore says that while Trump’s comments are “extremely offensive” to people in the country, Liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney’s policies — while acknowledging the science — also do little to mitigate the climate crisis as he approves new oil pipelines that would operate for decades. “He’s not exactly taking the climate action that we need here in Canada,” Gilmore says of Carney. Sinds eind juni geldt er een noodtoestand. Inwoners kampen met stroomstoringen, watertekorten en een gebrek aan brandstof, terwijl bij de Kerch-brug lange rijen auto’s ontstaan. De oorzaak is een toenemende golf van Oekraïense droneaanvallen op strategische doelen. Olieopslagen, vliegvelden en bruggen worden geraakt. Ook de Russische Zwarte Zeevloot moest uitwijken naar verder gelegen havens en de scheepvaart in de Zee van Azov werd stilgelegd. Oekraïne probeert met drones en aanvallen op infrastructuur de Russische positie op het schiereiland steeds moeilijker houdbaar te maken. Niet alleen militaire installaties worden getroffen. Ook de bevoorrading, energievoorziening en bereikbaarheid van de Krim komen onder druk te staan. De Kerch-brug vormt daarbij een cruciale verbinding met Rusland. De lange files bij de brug laten zien hoe afhankelijk het schiereiland van deze route is. Tegelijkertijd tonen de problemen van de Zwarte Zeevloot dat Rusland ook militair niet langer vanzelfsprekend de controle heeft over het gebied rond de Krim. Nog niet zo lang geleden leek Oekraïne weinig mogelijkheden te hebben om de positie van Rusland fundamenteel te veranderen. Het afstaan van de Krim werd zelfs genoemd als mogelijk onderdeel van een vredesregeling. De recente aanvallen moeten duidelijk maken dat Kyiv zijn onderhandelingspositie zelf probeert te versterken. Voor Poetin staat meer op het spel dan alleen grondgebied. He had lived in the United States for nearly 35 years and had three U.S. citizen children. The ICE agents involved in his killing have not been identified, and it’s unclear whether they remain on active duty. For more on the community response, we get a report from Democracy Now! producers on the ground in Houston. To many people in the city’s immigrant communities, Salgado Araujo was “Houston’s dad,” representative of their own families and not a dangerous criminal as the government has tried to portray him. “He looks just like all of our parents. He has the same story, the same American dream,” a resident named Sonia told Democracy Now! “We are demanding justice for Lorenzo, but it’s not just that,” a mourner said at a rally. “These terrorists coming from the government, it’s not just in Houston, it’s not just in Texas, it’s not just in the United States. Two U.S. service members were killed in an Iranian attack on a base in Jordan, and a third soldier was killed in northern Iraq during a “controlled detonation” of a downed Iranian drone. The United States has now bombed Iran for nine consecutive nights, and Iran has retaliated by striking U.S. allies across the Persian Gulf. The war, which has led to the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, has squeezed global supplies of oil and gas. “The United States has considerable violence at its disposal, but it has limited political capacity to dictate terms,” says Toby Jones, associate professor of Middle East history at Rutgers University.
