https://www.startengine.com/alfadan What is up engine heads, today I have something really interesting for you, a brand new inline four cylinder engine that has the potential to completely change the game. Why? Because it claims that it has overcome the single greatest limiting factor of any inline four cylinder engine – and that is its displacement. A few days ago I was researching and fact checking for one of my future videos and then I stumbled onto this page. This is the startup investor page for AlfaDan inc. Never heard of them? Neither have I. As you can see they’re looking for investors for their brand new marine outboard engine and have already raised more than a million dollars. But that’s not what’s interesting. What’s interesting is that this is an inline four engine that aims to outdo V6 and V8 engines at everything. Now I’m not really familiar with the outboard powered boat industry but apparently the big deal is that these boats have grown over the years and by doing so they also need more power to push them through water. So the solution has simply been to add more outboard engines. Obviously this isn’t an optimal solution as it increases weight and fuel consumption. And here’s where things get really crazy. ALFADAN claims that their revolutionary inline four engine offers 50% more horsepower, 50% less weight and 50% less moving parts compared to all current outboard engines. In other words 3 Alfadan inline fours can make the same power as 6 competitor engines at half the weight. I was like yeah right…..I’ve heard plenty of too good to be true claims over the years and that’s exactly what they usually are…too good to be true. So I decided to read on to see how exactly they claim to have achieved this. And here as you can see they talk about the inherent secondary imbalance we just spoke off, but more importantly they claim to have solved this design problem with a patented re-design of the i4 drive train, allowing ALFADAN to produce the very first high displacement inline four-cylinder engine. So I kept scrolling down and things got pretty serious. This isn’t just empty claims, a proof of concept and feasibility study has already been completed. And not just by anyone, the feasibility study has been done my Mahle powertrain. As you may know Mahle is one of the most reputable names in the industry of engines and engine parts. The pistons inside the Bugatti Veyron are Mahle for example. I believe that says enough. Mahle has been at the forefront of engine downsizing, turbocharging and improvement efficiency. But that’s not all. Alfadan has another big name behind them. Freevalve. You probably heard of them too. The sister company of Koenigsegg Automotive that has been making news headlines by developing a camless engine. That’s right. No camshafts which means no cam gears which means no timing chains or timing belts. The end result? A dramatically downsized engine with dramatically reduced friction and dramatically increased power potential. If you're blind and you have a printed document that contains information you need to read, how do you go about doing that? You might be fortunate enough to have someone around to read it to you - but what if there's no one to ask or perhaps you don't want someone reading your private information...well why not get a computer to read it instead. That's the basic idea behind Kurzweil's Reading Edge. Q) Why am I stood by the sea to talk about this device? A) Unfortunately a very elderly relative who cares for another very elderly immobile relative was taken into hospital so I spent the week as a live-in carer for the person left behind. As you can imagine this all happened suddenly, so before driving over to their house at the other side of the country I just had enough time to pack a few clothes and pick up my laptop and a camera. Fortunately I had some footage on the computer that I’d recorded a couple of months prior, so I passed the time while they were napping editing this video together. I shot the to-camera segments at a location a short walk from their house (after making sure they had everything they needed and a phone within reach). I recorded the footage outside as I couldn’t shoot indoors without my usual studio lighting. This video will have a few rough edges here and there, especially when it comes to the sound, but this was the best I could achieve in the circumstances. Robinhood is going public under the ticker HOOD and plans to sell up to 35% of the shares to Retail Investors. They announced that they are building a platform to “democratize” initial public offerings, including their own, that would allow users of its trading app to buy shares alongside Wall Street funds. The move could erode Wall Street’s grip on stock market flotations. It would be easier to implement for Robinhood’s own IPO, given how companies and their investment bankers tightly control allocations to investors in new listings. Currently, Robinhood users and other amateur traders cannot buy into stock of a newly listed company until its shares start trading. Since shares often trade higher when they debut, big funds that get allocations in the IPO have an advantage. The average first-day trading pop on U.S. listings of businesses in 2020 was 36%. The FIGS IPO was the first one to be sold directly to retail investors through Robinhood's online brokerage platform. Robinhood plans to carve out a chunk of its shares on offer in its IPO for its 13 million users, and to use technology it is building to administer this part of the offering, the sources said. Mercury is easily able to form alloys with most other metals. It's pretty common to combine sodium and mercury, which can be fun, and a bit dangerous. I did this on my main channel, and I basically just shoved sodium metal into mercury. The reaction generates a lot of heat, and it's usually enough to boil the mercury, and light the sodium on fire. #shorts

What if we could visit any building, regardless of whether it was ever built? Or, even after it has been demolished? This video and link below focuses on a single house — the One Half House — designed by architect John Hejduk, to resurrect and explore. It uses the program Enscape to walk through the building in order to preserve and distribute the experience of architecture that does not exist in built form. The video offers a timeline to contextualize the role of the house in the architect John Hejduk’s career and work, an analysis of the building, and initial reactions to walking through the building for the first time. In particular, the One Half House was pivotal for thinking about how architectural volumes might relate in space without the ordering device of a grid or a wall. What magic and other lessons are lurking in the design, hidden until we could experience it?
