We went into the cave while it was pouring rain, and ran into the worst flooded passages we have ever seen. The lowest and longest was the worm tube which is a 200 foot long passage that is so low you can't even crawl through(you have to slide), and it was completely flooded. It was the only way to reach the echo room the biggest room in the cave so we went through it.

Earlier today, I made some liquid oxygen, and I used to destroy a match, but I still had some of it left over, so I decided to use the rest of it to burn some steel wool. I thought a lot of the wool was going to disappear, but a lot of it didn't react. The reaction was also apparently hot enough to melt some of the iron. WARNING: Liquid oxygen is extremely dangerous. It's an extremely strong oxidizer and can react explosively. #shorts

So today, I'm going to be making some liquid oxygen. Oxygen is normally a gas, but it can be turned into a liquid using liquid nitrogen. It's a bit hard to see, but liquid oxygen is faintly blue. This is very dangerous, but what's fun to do, is to throw a match into it. As a liquid, oxygen is an even more powerful oxidizer and it can sometimes react explosively. I have been a trader for over twenty years, and from the start of my hedge fund career working with Victor Niederhoffer I have taken a quantitative approach to researching and executing trading strategies. A quant trader is a trader that builds statistical models to test trading strategies rather than relying on intuition and experience. Today we will look at the history of Quantitative Trading from 4000 years ago up until the present day. We will discuss the contributions of people like Ed Thorp, Victor Niederhoffer, Mike Adam, David Harding, Martin Lueck, David Shaw and James Simons. So today I'll be cleaning some really dirty lead. To do this, first I just have to melt it on a camping stove. When it's fully melted, lead oxide and other contaminants separate from pure liquid lead. Now I just have to carefully pour the liquid lead into water, and hopefully leave all of the contaminants behind. #shorts

A study by McKinsey found that the average life-span of S&P 500 companies has fallen from 61 years in 1958 to less than 18 years today. McKinsey predict that, by 2027, 75% of the companies currently included in the S&P 500 will have disappeared. So, What happens to these companies? Well, many will be bought- out, merged, and some will even go bankrupt like Lehman Brothers and Worldcom did. Some companies keep on going. General Electric, Exxon Mobile and Procter & Gamble are among the oldest large companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange. It is worth noting though, that age does not necessarily make a company any better. In fact, evidence from the stock market indicates that age is quite possibly a hindrance. Of the companies that have stayed in the S&P 500 for more than 60 years, only a minority have managed to beat the average over time. It is worth noting that the biggest companies today are quite young, companies like Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet and Facebook. If the S&P 500 was made up only of the companies that were part of the index sixty years ago, overall index performance would have been around a third lower. In Todays video we compare young vs. old companies and see if there are any lessons we can learn from the oldest companies in the world. At room temperature, gallium is completely solid. However, it has a super low melting point of only about 30C (86F), so in a bowl of hot water, it should completely liquify. As a liquid, it kind of looks like mercury, but it's not nearly as toxic, and it's much safer to hold in my hand. However, it is a lot messier and tends to stick to things, and it leaves an annoying residue. #shorts
How to increase torque with gears: https://youtu.be/txQs3x-UN34 Lego motors: https://amzn.to/2QPF2Z3 Motors in action: https://amzn.to/2QRZWa6 Lego motors with remote: https://amzn.to/3eb6TMp More action: https://amzn.to/2RoqTBY Serious action: https://amzn.to/2PPojVq Medium Lego motor: https://amzn.to/3uc3K4f Large Lego motor: https://amzn.to/3e6Si4w XL Lego motor: https://amzn.to/3vtLxiQ Battery box: https://amzn.to/3ucf0O2 Don't like motors? https://amzn.to/2SqQ73m In today's video I'll be using Legos to give you the most visual explanation and demonstration of horsepower and torque. If you have ever been confused by horsepower and torque I guarantee that after watching this video these two concepts will never confuse you again. So let's get started, and we're starting with Torque. Now this LARGE Lego motor outputs 0.14 Nm and this smaller LEGO motor outputs 0.03 Newton meters. What's a newton meter? Well a newton meter is a MEASURE of torque. It measures HOW MUCH torque is being generated. What is torque? The simplest explanation of torque is that it's a ROTATIONAL FORCE. It's the ROTATIONAL equivalent of LINEAR FORCE. When you take this bolt and push it you're applying linear force to it. But when you decide to bolt it down you're applying torque to it. In both cases a certain amount of force is present but what's different is the direction of that force. So our LEGO motors are outputting a certain amount of torque that we have expressed in Newton Meters. 1 newton meter of torque simply equals the force of 1 Newton applied at the end of an arm that is one meter long. So for example if we take this bolt and use this wrench which is one meter long and apply a force of 1 newton at it's end the resulting torque present at the bolt will be ONE NEWTON-METER. Newton meters confuse you? No problem, because torque can also easily be expressed in foot pounds. 1 foot pound of torque is equal to the force of 1 pound being applied at the end of an arm that is 1 foot long. So in this scenario I'm using the stored energy in my muscles to generate torque at the bolt. Our Lego motors are doing the same thing, they're using the electrical energy stored in these batteries to generate torque or rotational force, and as we have seen our large Lego motor is outputting more torque than our small motor. This difference in torque can EASILY BE FELT. If we install a small shaft into our motor we can feel the difference in rotational force coming from these motors. The difference in torque output is very obvious and the large motor feels much stronger and it's very difficult to stop it. Just like our LEGO motors THE MOTORS in modern electric cars use the stored energy in their battery packs to generate torque. On the other hand internal combustion engines rely on the energy stored in fossil fuels to generate torque. The key word in the word horsepower is POWER. What is power? Power is the rate at which work is done, in more simple terms power measures how often a certain force is applied over a given period of time. You could even call power = activity. It measures how many times you can repeat the same action over a given period of time. This means that torque is influenced by only one factor – the amount of rotational force But horsepower is influenced by two factors – the amount of force and how many times that force can be exerted over a given period of time. Now we're going to attach these blocks onto the shafts of our Lego motors so that we can more easily observe how fast each of them rotates. As you can see the small motor actually rotates faster that the large motor. In fact over the period of one minute the small motor makes 275 rotations while the large motor makes only 146 rotations. This means that although it can't generate as much torque as the large motor, the small motor applies it's torque at a greater rate over the same period of time. This means that while torque can be both felt and observed horsepower cannot be felt in the same sense. If we put our fingers against the shaft we're feeling the torque, we're feeling the force against our fingers. When we're sitting inside a car and the car accelerates we're again feeling the force pushing us against the seat. We can only feel the amount of force, and because torque is only a force we can feel it. But horsepower isn't only a force, it's a measure of the rate of force. In the case of engines and motors it is the amount of rotational force or torque multiplied by rotations per minute or rpm. 3 Absolute Best Guitar Exercises! (You didn't want to know...): I had a great request from someone a short while ago. He wanted to know what could he work on along side his regular practice, that would bring up his guitar theory and general musicianship in the medium term. As unusual cassette decks go - the 1970s Philips changers are some of the oddest. 00:00 Intro 04:18 The ‘Repair’ 26:05 First Demo 30:13 Prices & History 32:38 More Demo 36:39 Wrap Up 38:22 Credits Additional Links Akai Auto-reverse video https://youtu.be/2CE_zmpHcWQ Bi-colour Tapes from https://www.tapeline.info EXTRA INFO It’s very likely one reason the tapes didn’t always locate perfectly in the mechanism is because I was using short custom-wound tapes. As these have less tape inside...they will also have less weight than the average C90. When I ordered them I had no idea the tolerances in the machine would be so fine with regard to tape weight. My intention was to use the short lengths to demonstrate the continuous tape recycling feature activated by the tape end sensor...without having to wait for a full length tape to reach the end. In addition most new cassette shells are a bit rougher and more angular than ones from back in the 1970s - they'd be more smoothed off with rounder edges, and as a result they'd be far less likely to get caught up against the sides of the cassette well. --------------- SUBSCRIBE ------------------ http://www.youtube.com/user/Techmoan?sub_confirmation=1 ------------- Merchandise ----------------- https://teespring.com/stores/techmoan-merch ------------- SUPPORT --------------- This channel can be supported through Patreon https://www.patreon.com/techmoan *******Patrons usually have early access to videos******* ---------- Outro Music ----------- Over Time - Vibe Tracks https://youtu.be/VSSswVZSgJw ------ Outro Sound Effect ------ ThatSFXGuy - https://youtu.be/5M3-ZV5-QDM ------ AFFILIATED LINKS/ADVERTISING NOTICE ------- All links are Affiliated where possible. A) Patrons usually have early access to videos. I'll show the first version of a video on Patreon and often the feedback I get results in a video going through further revisions to improve it. e.g. Fix audio issues, clarify points, add extra footage or cut extraneous things out. The video that goes live on youtube is the final version.

So today I'll be making test tube liquid rockets. I first need a really strong oxidizer and I'm using pure nitric acid. Now all I need to do is all a fuel to it, and I'm using something called aniline. This mixture of aniline and nitric acid was used in some of the first rockets, but now there are more efficient combinations. #shorts

"Woke Imperialism / Diversity Among War Mongers" explores the fairly recently adopted language of Western foreign policy establishments post-Trump. During this session, we will discuss how the Western military, surveillance and financial establishments continue to extrapolate different formerly countercultural trends borrowed from identity politics, in order to airbrush a progressive aura onto their projects of 21st century military expansion. Speakers: Aaron Maté (Freelance Journalist for The Nation, The Grayzone and Democracy Now!), Katie Halper, American comedian, writer, filmmaker, podcaster, and political commentator. Katie is the host of the podcast “The Katie Halper Show” and co-hosts the “Useful Idiots” podcast alongside Matt Taibbi, and Rania Khalek, Lebanese American writer and political activist. She is currently a journalist at Breakthrough News, and has written for politically progressive/left wing publications, including The Nation, The Intercept, Al Jazeera, Salon, Vice, AlterNet, Mondoweiss, and Truthout. Khalek previously served as an associate editor for the website The Electronic Intifada. Moderator: Arturo Desimone, DiEM25 Task Force for the Alternative Security Conference ABOUT THE CONFERENCE The Alternative Security Conference seeks to do everything that the Munich Security Conference does not: Give an analysis of international hegemony (forwarded by multinational corporations and governments which act in their interests) spearheaded by the United States and its allies in the Western world and elsewhere and offer a different kind of hegemonic and security framework where people's interests and not those of corporations and states are prime. The views and opinions expressed in the conference are those of the speaker(s) and do not necessarily reflect DiEM25’s official policies or positions. I made this uranium glass myself and it actually contains uranium. What's cool about it is that it fluoresces under a black light, and it lets off a really nice green color. Because it contains uranium, it's radioactive, and this can be detected using a Geiger counter. #shorts
This week conservator, Verena Kotonski shows us the ins and outs of the base of the cartonnage. From buidling bridges, making sandwiches and using rigid gells to remove unwanted historic repairs, you'll become even more of an expert in the how tos and wherefores of conserving an ancient mummy coffin. Watch along and impress your friends with your in-depth knowledge of cartonnage conservation next time you see them. To be honest we have no idea how many episodes this series will have, each month the cartonnage has posed new 'challenges'. But it's also revealed more about life and death in Ancient Egypt. So we hope you will follow along as an already long project gets made even longer by unexpected global hand break turns. The conservation and the making of this film was generously sponsored by the John S Cohen Foundation. #AncientEgypt #Conservation #NewButOld
